I know one needs camo and concealent generally for turkeys except today. I just got to my farm about noon today, drove down the gravel land and on the gravel by my barn. Sitting there with the windows slightly open, radio on and thinking about what I had to do. Sixteen turkeys come around the barn, less than 25 feet from me as I was just sitting in my truck and they "stroll" by without a care in the world. Some jakes but 3 adult males, I would estimate beards in excess of 6 inches and visible spurs but not quite sure how long.
Maybe that is the way to hunt, no camo, radio playing some old rock and roll etc. Never know I guess.

We have DNR released birds up here in some of the areas I hunt. I have noticed that there are far less wild than "natural" birds down in southern Ohio. I don't know how many generations wild these local birds are, I suppose they released them 8-10yrs ago? I have had several occasions where they have just trotted ahead of me 50-100yds the whole way to my stand and when I quit moving forward they go back to scratching around for food.

I have seen turkeys in my area for about 20 years but are unsure if there have been any recent plants. I think they area a bit like any wildlife, if you are not actively pursing them they seem to know it. I once had a fawn or quite young yearling once walk through my open barn door when I was working in there. They are more concerned when the lead flies it seems.
