Tar, II got off work Tuesday this week and slipped down on the side x side to the mighty and treacherous Embarras river. I wanted to see if water was warm enough to use cheese bait yet. Boy was it! Channel cats were on fire. I couldn't keep two poles baited the bite was so good.
They were mighty fine tablefare for supper tonight!!!!

I use to literally live on the Embarras river around Charleston in my youth. Bank poles and gills=Flatheads. We only left the river for supplies....potatoes and beer....lol We had some good times....

We had power poles and trees snapping off everywhere around here Sat. and Sunday just high winds.Prior to the wind we received close to 1 inch of rain so our fishing aspirations were put on hold but we used that time to snell up some 6/0 off set circle hooks in anticipation of going after the big boys here soon. Put fresh line on everything we own. Restocked all terminal tackle so we are set for a couple years....lol Need to get out and find a young stand of willows for poles and get them rigged and ready...

I have been looking for shad guts locally for months with no luck. I have a friend in Decatur that fishes catfish tournaments all over US. He brought me 2 cases up from Alabama last weekend. I'm supposed to pick them up tomorrow. I hope to try them in river this weekend, if the river isn't too big to fish. Time will tell

Wish I had known about your buddy as I would have taken a couple cases myself! Keep me in mind as I will travel for them. They are no where to be found over here. Where do you hail from?
