Lets just say that I have a very nice 22 rifle project in the works. A sporter, not a target. Want to add a nice scope for squirrel hunting and plinking. So looking for a great scope in the 3-10x range under 400 bucks. Where do we go from here? Thanks Rman

Edge posted recently the Bushnell Elite 4200 in a 3x9x40 for under $200. That is an excellent deal on an excellent scope but it may be adjusted for 100 yards.

I love those CZ-452's with the Mannlicher stock. That Turkish walnut is beautiful and man do those things shoot! I bought three of them recently.........a .22 varmint heavy barrel, a .17 HMR, and a .17 Mach 2. Mine aren't the Mannlicher stocked models but i sure like the looks of those. Hey, as far as scopes go, i recently also bought several of those Weaver Classic Extreme scopes in the 2.5-10x56mm with side focus and illuminated reticle. They are ultra-bright in dim light (early and late squirrel hunting), and the illuminated reticle, 30mm tube and side focus are just icing on the cake. They are as bright as anything i have looked through (95% transmission with a 56mm objective) and they are also as sharp as anything i have looked through. Just a wonderful scope for the money ($299 at Natchez) they originally sold for almost $600! Here is a link: www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=WE800706&src=sim Good luck in your search buddy, you already made a fine choice for the rifle! KerryB

Supposedly the new 30mm tube Vortex Crossfires with illuminated reticle are almost as good as the WCE but without the sidefocus at less then the sale price of the WCE. I do not think the Crossfire would stand up to a 10ML but on a .22.... The other models of the Crossfire I have seen look awful good for the money.

Well can you believe it, I did not get the CZ as a trade was involved it all fell through. I did get a new Marlin 39A though. So oh well it should be fun.

:)Dwight, keen eyed individual I am , I really like the little 4X Weaver on sale at Natchez. I have it on my little Sav model 93 that has a small 17HMR aftermarket barrel on it. Small gun/small scope go well together. I like the 39A.

Steve I came close to that one, but instead bought a 4x Leupy rimfire model, as I agree small gun and small scope go together.

a Leupold rifleman in a 3by9 would be a great choice for a 22... i have one on my 17m2 and its a squirrels worst night mare. it has a wide duplex. its a very nice scope but not as nice as the vx series or a Nikon monarch. but for a 22 just for plinking and squirrel hunting i think its a great scope. 199.99 dollars.

I have done a lot of squirrel hunting and have tried many different scopes over the years. My preference came down to a straight 6X power scope for a .22. Weaver makes a nice 6X. A lot of the other companies did at one time or another over the years. Found a real nice older Pentax 6X at a gun show last year for $60.00.

I have a number of different scopess on my 22's. Nothing special but all are 3 - 9X. The scope I really like is the Nikon Buckmaster in 6 - 16 I put on my 17 HMR. That's a great scope and wish I had it on the 22's.

I like to upgrade my lower quality centerfire rifle scopes and move the old centerfire scopes to my rimfires.

My Ruger 77/22 wears a Sightron Big Sky 3.5-10x42mm and my Ruger 77/22mag has a Tasco Titan 3-9x42mm with 30mm tube. Both scopes have excellent glass
