Looking around at options. The stock mil spec on my S&W MP15OR isn't bad, not gritty, not much travel and breaks cleanly at just under 6#, but it could be better.
What do you run and why? The LaRue MBT at the no hurry $125 price has got my interest, supposedly just like the geissele SSA.

If I'm going cheap the rock river two stage is good enough. Otherwise it would be a geissele for me.

I really like the Geissele SSA-E on precision guns and the SSA for everything else.

When Bill Wylde built my AR, which has been a while ago. He told me Jewell 2 stage trigger or nothing. It has served me well for shooting one hole groups off bench but it is set a little light for hunting purposes. It might depend on what your using the gun for?

Use will be mostly range, both quick shooting at various distance targets as well as long range precision and coyote and hopefully one day prairie dogs.
Will also be used if the SHTF but who's won't.

Im running timney in one and bro-dit in another, timney is better by a bit as the bro-dit has an ever so slight creep, both reset fast and break very cleanly. Never tried an after market two stage.

I don't think one trigger covers all that but the SSA gets close. It's light enough to do good rifle work at 4.5# (total) and while it is about .25# heavier than the trigger on my work rifles it feels lighter because they are cleaner. I've shot the 4.25# Knight trigger to 1346m and would take the SSA over it any day. I shot the SSA in DMR matches where targets go to 800m but may be really close also. It's as close to a perfect AR trigger as there is. The SSA-E would be better for your dedicated Prairie dogging but I think they are too light for a SHTF (or work) rifle. I don't think you'll score more his in the effective range of a .223 with the SSA-E over the SSA.

Great input, thanks.
Brother just told me a buddy of his has an SSA in his, so I can try before I buy. I did mess with a RRA match over the weekend, not really what I'm looking for. First stage felt pretty much like taking up the accutrigger blade, no resistance at all.

I'm a bit late on this ,but in the same year. That's punctual for me! lol I own geissle low end to high end, Jewell , RRA and others except Timney ( of which I would never buy for an AR). But my favorite bar none is the brand " Velocity" . Excellent trigger under $150 and or even less. Everyone I''ve turned on to get that eye opened jaw dropping look when they try it. So my vote goes to Velocity. I get them from High Impact Machining in AZ. Great to deal with.

I just built an AR 308 and put in a Hiperfire 24c in it...I tried a Gieselle but could not get use to the double stage..so got a single stage..I love the Hiperfire..can adjust pull with springs and also with the trigger shoe you change the geometry of the pull...
I built this fro a matched upper and lower..lower was an 80% done...my first time doing this..was fun..measure 5 times and machine once..lol...I am so impressed how it shoots...20in heavy barrel...cryptic coatings BCG..its mage by toolcraft but cryptic buts on a special coating...
now gettibg ready to do either a 6.8 rem or a 6.5 grendel

Picture on my badge is a Grendel I built. Satern fluted. Have taken a lot of game with it. A great cartridge! BTW it has a Velocity trigger which brought me to this forum. (trying to stick with the thought). Single stage.

The Grendel has more and better options for brass and will handle heavier bullet s better. I don't generally use the 168gn SMK because it sucks past about 600m. I use 155gn, 175gn, or 190gn SMK and sometimes 185gn Jugs. I like Varget and H4895 in bolt guns for lighter stuff. If I'm shooting a gas gun I use RL15 because it's cleaner. For the heavies I use RL17 but am moving to 2000MR when I finish the last few pounds of 17. Let me know if you need anything else.

I went with a TriggerTech in my AR. A little pricey at 200.00, but it is an excellent trigger. Adjustable from 1.5 to 5 lbs. in one tenth increments and no creep.

Ended up going with the LaRue MBT for $125 pricing. Only took me 10 months to decide No idea when it will get her, but I got time.

I have an ALG QMS that I LOVE for a cheap upgrade. I've tried to love the Geiselle, but I'm not sure I'm going to come around. I have an SSA and 3-gun (Brownells models). I did however love my buddy's Timney. It felt MUCH better to me than the JP in my .308.
