As I re-strung my poles last night in preparation for a catfish tournament. I realized the last time I went fishing I didn't need glasses to tie the line. I don't think I've been out more that twice in the last 5 years. That' s going to change. I want to share a story about my daughters with you guys. My one daughter has very low vision. We were in a small boat on a pond. She has to have the bobber close to see it. She started to get a bite and asked what to do. She was about 8 or 9 years old at the time. I told her "when the bobber disappears yank the pole back and set the hook". Well it did, and she did. But as I said the line was short so she could see it. She jerked the bait clean out of the water the bobber an hook flew behind us. Then she gave a mighty yank back forward. Setting the hook in the back of my shaved head. There we were she had her pole bent back wards she was leaning on it with all she had saying "I got one I got one". My other daughter just sat there with a terrified look of her face like when he gets loose from this he's going to throw us both over. All I could do was laugh I need to take more time. The girls are 14 now. 161

161 Make sure to save some time for when Grandkids appear. After their mother's tale of spending fun times with Grandpa fishing I'm sure there will be requests from the Grandkids to be taken fishing by Grandpa. Just hope the hooking of a big one incident doesn't repeat itself. ;D Ed

That's a good story 161! It is something special fishing with your kids. I was helping my daughter fish a couple of years ago and she had never caught anything before. We were trout fishing and i cast her lure upstream and then handed her the rod so she could reel in the lure. I turned around to help my son with his rod when my daughter suddenly said "something's heavy"! I immediately turned back around and sure enough, she was reeling in a nice trout. I busted up laughing because she didn't even say "i have one" or anything like that............just "something's heavy". Good times................ ;D
