I would like to gather info on average length of sealing surface to sealing surface of bare primer breech plugs.
Step one: New primer length? Step two: Overall length of breech with new primer installed Step three: Install plug in gun bolt up primer in gun close bolt then remove primer and breech now measure breech with crushed primer. Overall length?
Will have 3 deminsions. Also post bolt setup type and gun model Thanks

numero uno- did you mean for this to be in the modern inline section? Dos- knight mountaineer 45 cal bare primer system. Fed 209a primer .296" new Loaded plug length 1.880 After cycled through gun 1.880 Added a .005 shim to plug pocket Fed 209a primer .296" Loaded plug length (with .005" shim) 1.885" After cycled through gun 1.883 I assume the original setup had around .003" between the plug seat and my primer when loaded. Minus whatever spring back a 209 may have. If I had win primers on hand I believe I would have had an interference fit without the shim.
