Finally going to breakdown and get a bench gun vise so I don't need 3 hands to work on guns.
I was thinking of getting the Tipton Best Gun Vise.
Any reviews on this or any other options??
Thanks.

I have a Tipton and it does good. I see a lot of them when people show photos of guns on this site.

I like the Tipton for general stuff. They don't hold the rifle extremely rigid so I use bessey jaw pads on my vise for a lot more than I use the Tipton.

I like the Tipton for general stuff. They don't hold the rifle extremely rigid so I use bessey jaw pads on my vise for a lot more than I use the Tipton. Just did a search for Bessey Jaw Pads. Home Depot has them for $4.97 whereas Amazon has them for $12.85. Wondering if they are made by different companies? Is there a quality difference? As far as Tipton vs. a jaw vise......having BOTH is nice. I have a parrot vice mounted at the corner of a bench which can rotate over 90* and doesn't move after the jaws are tightened. I've mounted scopes using both, and prefer the parrot vice because rifles have moved at times in the Tipton, which is aggravating when attempting to get the X-hairs perfectly aligned (have to start all over leveling rifle & scope). Also find it easier to clean a barrel in the parrot vice. But as we all know, it's hard to beat the Tipton for a display photo!! Now, to replace the leather pads with some Bessey's. Thanks for the tip, Cole!

I use a Davidson barrel vise for anything barrel related. Similar to the viper design.
