Got this one tonight at 385yd. Longest shot for me on any game. Have practiced to 400yd and confident! I use the lower cross hair transition of thick to thin for the 400yd aiming point. Dead calm tonight. Pulled the trigger and it flopped around about 15yd. First one I had that wasn't a bangflop since going sabot less. 300sst, 10/60 sr4759/h4198, .060 veggie, ccim. Hit approx 2" low and left of what I was aiming at. Quartering away, hit behind onside leg and came out in front of offside, clipping the heart.

Nice shooting, Jay! Yeah, dead calm, foggy and warm! Yuk. This warm spell we're having has led me to lay aside my SML and pick up my squirrel rifle. Besides, I've not been seeing deer all season. I'd still like to shoot another deer or two, but this warm spell would make it tough for me to hang, skin, butcher at a leisurely pace.

Doing the same and going back to squirrels now too. Yeah the weather is not helping anything.

Fantastic shot! It's amazing that heart shot deer can run off or flop around. All the ones I've heart shot seem to. You did your homework.

Just got the deer broke down and in the freezer. 62deg outside now and garage is 48deg. Had to hurry. The bullet upset plenty good at that range. Silver dollar sized holes thru ribcage. Didnt find any jacket, tip, or pieces. Entrance hole noticebly higher than exit due to trajectory. Very happy with the 300sst now. Have just under 400 of them. A keeper sleeper bullet in my eyes. My MH's will be traded off for more of these now.
