I have an H&R ultra 45/70 sml conversion, what pressures should I consider safe in this conversion?

Depends what you consider a max, just know it isn't any sort of hot rod! With sabots I feel I'm limited more by sabot integrity rather than barrel profile. Sabotless I prefer 30-35kpsi but considered 40 my ceiling(using TG's traces as a reference)
I used to have one that loved 35gr 4759 and a 300xtp. I just built one myself a few weeks ago with a breech plug I made and second group I shot was same load. Not sure if it was coincidence but at 75yds I put 3 into .5". These are about 1950fps and nice manageable recoil

Moto gave you a good load that 4759 300xtp puts em in the same hole in my gun. I've gone as high as 40gr of imr4759 but I drop the bullet wight down to 250gr then.

I understand SR-4759 has been discontinued what would be a good alternative any one know I have one being done by Cole 45-70 Buffalo Classic Luke breech Plug. Lou

Often V110 was a good close substitute, perhaps just a little less could be used. Just a bit hard to find at times. Some locales have it more than others.

V-110 is a Vhitavouri powder
H-110 is a ball powder distributed by Hodgden
The two are not interchangeable! The V-110 is a good powder, very clean burning, and expensive powder..... If you can find it around your area??

If you can find it around your area?? Vihtavuori, yes, but N-110, not H, or V. We sometimes call it "V", but I don't think it is. I have the wrong stuff, if it is. |

That is why it is best to ask even though the person knows what he meant the person reading this information (Dummy Like Me) for one may think it's other than what the writer said. I ask a lot of questions some times I type a question only not to post it for fear some may think it's a stupid question If you can't learn here you can't learn any where Thanks too all
