Hello, Does anybody have any updated Duplex load data for Red Dot, Clays as the booster?. 4198 as the main powder? I will be using Parker 275 BEs for bullets. Would like to try some Duplex loads when it get down in Temp here in Nebraska during the Muzzy season.
Thanks and Good Hunting

There is alot of info on what you're asking in the Load Info section and a member on this board, Richard, has done extensive testing on Red Dot and Clays as a booster.
I have found that the Parkers don't really need a booster in my gun, but I can understand if you have ignition concerns living in the tundra lol

I've noticed alot of guys don't duplex with the Parker Bullets. Alot Of the pages on the load info section won't pop up for me for some reason? I havnt had any problems using straight H4198, but thought I might look into a Duplex load. I like to sit when it gets down to 0 and the deer need to come eat ?

I know there has been success with the shotgun powders as boosters and 4198 as the main with SST's and I'm sure there are plenty of the same with parkers, someone may chime in who has used this combo. I always duplexes N110/H322 with Parkers when I shot a .45, with fantastic accuracy, stability and dependability. I'm sure the same can be achieved with what ur after.

Yeah I've thought about using N110. May give that a try also.

5 Red Dot / 65 H 4198, wool or veg wad, 275 BE = BANG every time. I like to test this, for POI, against straight 70 H4198. Then load my gun with the duplex, for long cold days. Have the 70g H4198 for a quick reload. Just gives me a little extra confidence while hunting. Good luck!

Yule has it about right. Use the duplex as your first shot (in cold weather) then if you want, have some straight powder charges for quick reloading..................most of the time you will probably not need the "quick" reload. I have found the "softer" boosters like 4759, N-110 and 5744 in small amounts (5 gr.) along with 4198 to work well with the Parkers.

What are you gaining using a duplex load with 4198? I've hunted in Temps far lower than anybody with common sense would want to hunt in and it went bang. I left my gun in the truck loaded overnight last year. It got to 18 below. I went outside, primed it, and it went off...

Just an insurance policy for piece of mind or getting the bullet fully obturated if needed. Just saying.

Depending on variables such as primer type, load fit, flash hole dimension, etc, it may go bang but lose a lot of FPS in cold temps. A duplex helps eliminate the temp sensitivity.

Vent liners wear out very fast with faster boosters than N110. If you use them, it would be a good idea to get a bushing plug.
N110 has all the "kick" to both ignite your powder and obturate the BE's. Personally, I've gotten a lot better accuracy using N110 with different main load powders than the faster primer powders with both vent liner plugs and bushing plugs. But that could be just me.
What part of Nebraska?? I'm originally from Stratton.
