First saw the deer enter the shooting lane at ~50 yards walking straight away from stand. Grunts would only get a turn of the head but not body. He kept walking. Yuk! Finally at 95 yds he was about to disappear. The 26" 45 PacNor, 10/50 load with lightly knurled 195B/LBH topped by a 50MM 2.5x10x Weaver Classic Extreme worked as hoped. With only a tail on shot the aim was just below the neck, half way to the hip. Bang flop. Never moved. The 195Bs is as foolproof as a bullet can be. I have a lot of blemished 200SSTs,, love their accuracy, their trajectory, their cost. I have 2 45s loaded with these; however, when it gets down to going into the woods, the 195Bs loaded rifle gets taken. In my blind I keep a backup 45, in this case, the OBO stocked rifle , RB owned. I just wanted it in one of the pictures. It wasn't used today. Wasn't needed: bangflop. The deer was killed about 200 yards behind my house. Love living in a rural area!

Hope you did not get too out of breath walking tht 200 yards to your stand Steve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice deer and good shot. Richard, actually, I was 300 yds from my house and the deer was 95 yards towards my house. So, my walk was 50% longer.m Seriously, I own 100 acres my house is on and can hunt 22 adjoining acres. I'm fortunate, not inherited, just worked hard for and paid for. The Kubota 3800/front end loader makes getting the deer out easier and gutting, washing out so much easier as the antlers can be tied to one of the hooks at each end of the bucket. Life is good!

Good deer and you are a lucky man to have hunting acreage in your back yard.

Nothing like shooting one on your own land! And close to the house-nice job, always happy when that happens!

Nice buck Steve! It is hard to beat that 195BX. It is a good feeling being able to walk out the back door and start hunting! I'd like to have more than 10 acres, but land prices in Iowa are ridiculous at the moment.

Congratulations, very nice deer. Yep, when they smell something good you are not going to turn them around edge. Mark, You're very perceptive. About 30 minutes prior to my first seeing that deer, 5 doe had gone up that very trail. His nose was often to the ground. The hot part of the rut hit here on Friday. Richard : 3 1/2 years

Nice buck. I've been thinking about the camo duct tape treatment on my barrel. Did you notice any change in point of impact or accuracy in general?

Nice buck, nice pond, nice RB rifle....still miss him. Uhhh, how many fillings does it take to pay for a Kubota end loader? Nice buck. I've been thinking about the camo duct tape treatment on my barrel. Did you notice any change in point of impact or accuracy in general? Not Steve, but it didn't on my converted Marlin X7. It still shot 4" groups in the same, general location.

Camp tape made no difference. This tape is worn out.
The front end loader wasn't that bad, it is the Kubota tractor (3800) attached to the front end loader that took a lot of fillings. Bought used, of course, they came together.

196 Barnes performed in its typical, exceptional manner again today. It's as though this bullet is magic.
