Panhandle, there was a recent thread on the tez about the 250 and 290 size difference but I can't find it .. I'm thinking the 290 tez mic out slightly larger and are sized more consistent from factory ? Not Panhandle, but the 290 gr T-EZs that are got from ASG (Luke) are .0002"-.0004" smaller than the 250 gr T-EZ that I got from Ed's Gun Shop (Carlos). I do not need to knurl the 250s for my McGowen. The 290s require 2 rolls to achieve a similar fit in that Barrel. Hope this helps.

The ones I had gotten from Carlos both mic'ed the same but different barrels, different sizing! That is why you need a Swinglock pr similar type adjustable die. You might get lucky on one lot but then stuck on the next?

I've used barnes bullets the last 3 years, and will never even consider another bullet for a hunting application. I've only recovered one bullet, and it was a 295 yard head on chest shot. It went through the whole body, broke the pelvis to peices, and lodged in the skin on the back side of the hind quarter. It did all that while retaining 91 percent of its weight. You won't win any 1000 yard matches with them, but full freezers are guaranteed if you can put it in the chest cavity. The 290 seems to shoot better for me as well.

The 290 Barnes was Brother Rick choice for sabotless.
Hope you folks remember his great contribution to our sport.....he was a founding father
I used the 290 FB with excellent results.....with 56 to 58 grs of H4198

The 290s are fine bullets and RB gave me good advice on more than one occasion.

The 290 Barnes was Brother Rick choice for sabotless. SNIP. For those new here, he is referring to rbinar who we lost in 2011. RB was also the innovator of the duplex load and he was denounced by some as going to blow up guns! In reality his properly designed duplex yielded better ignition, greater velocity, all with lower pressure! edge.
