Went to the range today to put final touches on my hunting load...Didn't have much to do...Shot 7/60 Clays/4198 and 8/58 Clays/4198...The 7/60 load proved to be the most accurate...as good as I can shoot...2710fps...The one target is at 200yds...the other 400yds... I think 400yds is at the limit of the TEZ....They're a good all around hunting bullet...very accurate, and they shoot through bone when needed.Rifle season opens in Nebraska on the 14th...I'll be carrying my RemBrux. Nice shooting there Zen!!!! Hard to beat the clays/4198 TEZ combo.. The N110/H322 TEZ is a good one too. 250's or 290's take your pick for a good hunting bullet...thanks for your testing... Zen

That's incredible! Richard's adoption of the duplex concept and then the refinement of both the primer powder and some of the main charge powders moved smokeless MLing to new heights. Then testing and shooting you and others are doing leaves some of us speechless . Things have come a long way from the 10ML and short MMPs , 250 & 300g XTPs, 34 g 2400, or 44g 5744, or 45g IMR4227. Thank goodness! I've never come close to your groups!

Looks great, what type of sizing for the TEZ? edge. Edge, he only has a smooth due from Swingloc. He usually sizes them down small enough to knurl back up a little bit for good fit. Hope that helps.

Size of the group at 400? Wind? Great shooting Zen!!! The black dot is 2".... Very little wind...The top left shot was pulled slightly.....sized .449 then knurled slightly....fairly loose fit...thanks guys Zen FYI....the 7/63 clays/4198 combo has produced similar results with the 250TEZ

Have you tried loading without sizing? I my 45 McGowen they twist as you push them down the bore unsized. The all copper bullets are not hard to load unsized.

Using the published BC of .223 in my Strelock ballistic calculator worked out real close to real world drop. On the 400 yd target I dialed up my Vortex Viper 4x16 (37 clicks) (37") and was real close elevation wise...Did the same (16 clicks) (12") at 300yds with same results. Like I said earlier this I believe is the limit for this bullet..The ballistic table shows it still going 1279fps with 1054 energy ft lbs but the low BC of this bullet is about run out. Realistically this a 300 yd bullet. I'm no expert for sure just opinions.. Zen

Panhandle, I'm sticking with the 250 tez this season . 10/58 red dot h4198. Good results out to 300, would you consider the 250 tez to be a max 300 yards bullet for hunting purposes ? Or is this stretching a little far for a lighter bullet ?

Or is this stretching a little far for a lighter bullet ? The 250 TEZ is my favorite hunting bullet....I'm hunting with the 290 this year because I bought 75 when Richard starting posting great results with them...If I remember right I've killed 5-6 deer with the 250 between 250-300+ yards all pass throughs and DRT..Killed deer with 275MH, 275BE, 300BO, 250FTX, 195BX, 200SST and none have done a better job on the terminal end... Never have to worry about hitting bone or the bullet blowing up..my favorite shot is a high shoulder shot intending to break as much bone as possible....your set to go..Good luck Zen

Panhandle, there was a recent thread on the tez about the 250 and 290 size difference but I can't find it .. I'm thinking the 290 tez mic out slightly larger and are sized more consistent from factory ?

I'm thinking the 290 tez mic out slightly larger and are sized more consistent from factory ? The diameter of the two are the same and are not perfectly consistent. In my Brux barrel I size them to .4492 which is two marks on my Swinglock adjustable smooth die. With my Pac-Nors I had to size them a little more at .4490 which was four marks on the die.I'm finding that a slightly snug fit works well...just snug enough to hold the bullet on the powder charge...good luck Zen

I shoot the 250 tez right out of package in my McGowen. Will probably mess around with the 290 after hunting season, especially if they will fit from the package ..nice not having to size . I do notice some of the 250's load slightly easier but it doesn't seem to affect groups out to 300 at all
