I shot a 165 lb. 7pt yesterday at 208 yards with my .45 McGowen 1:22 twist using 95 grs. by weight of BH209 and the 250 FTX. The buck was quartering away hard and I found what was left of the bullet in the opposite shoulder. Don't know the muzzle velocity but I think close to 2400 fps. He did not take a step but I was a little surprised by the results. Although you cant argue with DRT...

Congrats!
No jacket? Is that the same chunk of lead in both photos? Do you have a scale to weigh it?

Didn't find any jacket. Same chunk of lead in both pics. Just got home and weighed it. 127.5 GRS.

Congrats on the harvest! The 2 recovered 250FTXs I have seen out of guns shooting 2250-2300fps retained their jackets and weighed approx. 220gr.IIRC Jacketed bullets do some strange things. Here is a pic of a recovered 300 Barnes Original at 2250fps. Lots of guys used these in their 50cals on the board and raved on their terminal results. Maybe your instance was an anomaly or maybe it will be the norm, only way to find out is to whack more.

Here is a pic of the buck. Nothing big but he put on a great show that morning. He got in a fight with a smaller 8 pt. three times while a smaller buck watched. I have the 250 FTX loaded with 10/50 4759/4198 in my other gun. So we will see what happens.
