I have been talking and looking forward to this trip for months. In the past 25+ years the kids and I have done a Labor day bird hunt. it was a way to get the kids away from Mom and let her be Her for three days before school. Now the kids are on there own , for many years, and we still normally do it. But in the last two years we have been doing a end of big game season predator hunt too. This year we decided to combine the two in to a 5 or 6 day predator hunt BEFORE big game when the weather is nicer. Then the D-I-L's Moose tag came up. SAME time frame. Here we are The kids have been out twice for 4 days each time and still no moose. This time they found a couple of cow moose but unable to find a bull , her tag is bull only. I really hoped they would fill it before I joined the troop, That way I would not have to help pack, but. This trip will be 6 days in the bush. They have ran across several nice bear each time in there perverse hunts, there both tagged out on bear. Turkey on every walk and have herd wolf at night. I have a bear tag, a turkey tag, and wolf tag, and don't HAVE to find a moose. This could be our week. How "EPIC" would it be to come back with a big bull moose, a nice bear, three wolf, and some turkey. AND I'll be calling coyotes all week too. Man Hope I packed enough ammo !!!!

About as 'epic' as it gets. Good luck and be safe.

$15 for a wolf was a LOT of money then. In the early 1800s some ground sold for a dollar an acre. Someone did well on that hunt. I would have thought there was some arguing over who "shot" the wolves. Interesting story. I should have read it closer but when the buzzards return to Hinkley yet today it is supposedly they first came to eat what was left of a hunt as I recall. I think the buzzards return around March 17 each year they say but I see them earlier around here of late, maybe warmer Springs? Also way more vultures than I ever saw as a kid, perhaps more people shot at them then. I can't keep them off my barn roof now. Back to the subject, I hope you have a great hunt.
