NC is having a special youth deer hunt day Sat morning,,,, kids 15 and under can use any legal weapon and harvest any deer,,, Out of the blue Michelle decided that she wanted to try for one when I told her about this day last month,,a couple of years ago we sat in my ladder stand that I put up for the kids a couple of evenings and we only had does come in,,, we have no doe days during deer season,, she is a good shot with her H&R youth handi in 7mm-08,,, and we have practiced out of the condo style double ladder stand on a deer target,,, 5 other kids have taken their first deer out of that stand,,, mostly 3rd to 5th students of mine here at school, but neither of mine have been that interested before,, I hope she gets the opportunity and things go well!!!!
I have put alot of work into my little orchard and food plot over the last 10 years,,,, had about given up on either of my kids getting involved and started offering it as a place for a deserving kid to hunt with their parent to get their first deer, that was satisfying, but frustrating at the same time as I really wished that it was me and one of mine,, we shall see.

Good luck to her! Never know if or when they will become hunters. Both mine took deer early in their years, but never showed real interest. The ship has sailed for the oldest, no interest in hunting. Wasn't until the youngest graduated college did things change for him. He started shooting my bow, then bought his own and he was hooked. Bowhunted in three states last year, went to a couple ASA shoots this year, and will bowhunt in at least three states this year. Just never know what will make the switch flick on.

Well we struck out,,, did not even see a deer from dawn to noon,,,, there were many squirrels, grey and red, chipmunks, and even a flying squirrel glided in and made a landing on a nearby tree. One turkey and who knows how many birds,,,,,, a good time was had by all though and the next 2 weeks is our ML season,,, I'm going to load the encore 45/70 conversion with a mild load and a 200 grain hornady and we will get out a few times.
