A couple 100yd groups from this morning with annealed Barnes. First time shooting the 350gr flatbase bullets at 100yds. I have pretty much assured myself that the whole Barnes line of .416 bullets are consistant groupers out of this cMc build. 350gr group measures .349 300gr group measures .282 Speeds are on the targets.

Steve what primers are you using? How's that bolt and plug combo holding up now that you've got some shots thru it? What are you using for a rest? A sled? Thats some great shooting!

That is some great shooting, and that .416 is a tack driver. Now if I can get you to quit using that sissy sled, and back to a regular rest, like the rest of of hard core guys use, you might do better. Great groups.

Don't take your eyes off of it at the get-together, you may never see it again. As the boy would say-That's sexy! Fantastic shooting-again!

Whoa buddy! You see that cowhunter? Maybe you should swap that krieger out for a shilen and see how it shoots! That is very fine shooting for a 416 at 100yds. I don't usually expect a caliber like that to shoot so well in close. Making me proud stepbro.

That is super shootin. I found one of my favorite loads to be 95 grains H-4350. A few of us have tested the 95 grains as a standard candle so to speak. Im convinced you are getting good ignition and effective ignition of the 95 grains if your speed is around 2700 FPS. Fishawks .416 is a tack driver with 95 grains of H4350. But he had some tacks made that are the size of a golf umbrella.

Guy, bolt and plug working with a .030 bushing and loose bullets ignited by Fed209A. Yep, I use a Lead Sled with this gun. It's not modified though Edge. No wads. Carlos I saw you called. I was out in the garage weighing and mic'n all the Barnes bullets you sent me. Call me back.

Great shootin'! I see dead deer in the forecast....or elk, or grizzly!
Interesting that the fastest speed of the 350's is only 33fps slower than the slowest speed of the 300's with the same amount of powder.

I never had much interest in a .416 because seemed not too many could get them to shoot very well, you and your setup are opening some eyes and changing some opinions. Maybe there will be room for one after all...

Yeah, you better check the size of those bullets, and the weight, specially since you go them from me, there might be some 400 gr. mixed in there, and if they are different sizes they might not size in the same die setting. got more of them coming, will let you know when. I think I'm going to have to take mine out of the safe, and see what I can do with it, but is going to be hard to beat your groups.

Are the 300 and 350 Barnes sized the same?
I had to size the 400 TSX's smaller than the 300 TSXs, since there is more bearing surface/drag, when loading the bullets.
Maybe it's because I have 11 and 12 twist barrels too...

Very nice! Sure wish that caliber was legal in Iowa... The caliber is legal in Maryland where I hunt. I might try to lug it to the top of a grassy knoll for a long shot in some cut cornfields come October. Where are the LRMP .416 and other subcaliber SPML reports? Seems like 209 ignition is working fine in my gun and a few others.

that 350 is a stout load, in my .50 I get 2400fps, so its a pop gun next to yours, If you are using Barnes X bullets they are great penetrators

Impressive shooting.
Longbowshooter posted a thread last week or week before with his LRMP primed 416.

I remembered to adjust the scope this morning before shooting. Yanking the tips out for annealing don't seem to effect accuracy.
