My 10 year old son James and I finally had a little time to shoot some today. We took his .392/.400 rem ml with a pac-nor barrel and my Nightforce 5.5X22 nxs scope. No he does not get to keep the scope. Haha He was shooting a 200 sst with Carlos's 10/50 duplex of sr4759/10X. This load averages 2812 fps. I would say he did pretty good considering it's been about 3 months since he has pulled a trigger. The first shot was a clean barrel shot that went high. The next 2 were touching. The 4th shot he was trying to hit the orange dot.(Note to myself adjust scope so he is hitting orange.) After talking to him about shooting a group and not being concerned with hitting the target he put the 5th shot with shots 2 and 3 making for a 0.536 inch group. That group would have put him in 5th place at the KY challenge in the 100yrd shoot. I know there has been some questions about the .40's in the past about them not being as accurate, or the bullets are not as good. I hope that this helps answers some of the questions. This is the ml I took the KY challenge, I just should have taken my trigger man with me.

Awesome job by both of you, he's a chip off the ole block pulling the trigger. Great stuff, the 40's just work for everyone and are even kid friendly, without having to deal with sabots. Show us a pic of your gun, not sure if I've ever seen it or not. Congrats again.

Great shooting from your son. Yes you have taken him to the KY Challenge, and probably could have place a bit better than you did, You need to adjust the scope so he can hit the red dot. The 40 cal. is a great caliber, and hard to beat for accuracy, and yes like Guy said, even youngsters can shoot great group with it. He is going to start to make look bad before long. Tell him I said congrats.

Very nice shooting! I wouldn't have known what to do if I shot a group like that at 10yrs old. I hope he knows that spectacular!

James and I appreciate the kind words. It helps build his confidence. James has always been good on the trigger, must get that from his mom. They both can and do out shoot me all the time. Haha
