I have a stock 700 trigger in my rifle. It scales out at 3 3/4 pound pull which isint terrible but I would like to get it down to 1 ish pound. It seems a bit stiff now, where as my 2 lb trigger in my other target rifle feels much lighter.
Can I get this trigger down to 1.5 or is a timney in my future? I also found a trigger that uses a roller between the trigger and sear. Anyone know anything about those?
Thanks.

With the stock rem trigger I wouldn't go that low just buy the timney and your done and its a much better trigger. I like mine around 2.0 or just a little more, unless it's a range gun only go less.

It's a target rifle.

I wouldn't take a standard factory trigger that low even with aftermarket springs. With Timneys 510 you can go as low as 1.5 but I've never taken one that low. The better Timney is the Calvin Elite which you can get as low as 8oz. But for the price of the Calvin Elite you can get a Jewell. Then that new Trigger Tech with the roller looks interesting and can go down to 1.5lb and for just $90 looks even better.

I was thinking about taking a chance on the trigger tech. I can get one without a safety and they say it will fit and in stock. I am the only one who shoots this gun and only in competition/range environment. I will have to modify my settling in on the bench a bit but I can do that. Just have to work on repetition like everything else. I think I would be happy with 2 pounds.

I would get one with the safety if you can. If it doesn't work out on the bench you can move it to a hunting gun or sell it.
From what I understand they are selling like hotcakes. Supposedly one seller on Ebay said he sold 100 in just a week.
I only know of one person that has bought one and hasn't even taken it to the range yet. He really likes it and thinks it will be a winner. And he already has a couple Timneys and a Jewell.

Sounds good. My problem is the backorder. End of September on the safety model. Does that one set poundage with 1 screw or are multiple adjustments required?

I like Shilen, Timney Calvin Elite, or tune up a factory unit to 3# depending on need.

I have a couple of regular Timney's, one on a Rem788 and the other on the Rem700ML conversion. The one on the 788 is set at 1 3/4# and the 700 is 2#. Couldn't be happier with either. Both get used on the bench and in the field, so I haven't tried to set them any lighter.
That being said, if I were to replace another trigger, a serious look would be had at the Trigger Tech. Really like that concept as well as the price.

When they say with safety and without is it that simple? Will either work in my rifle?

Either will fit in you 700 but the no safety model of theirs is no safety, ever. Their design doesn't use the factory safety like other companies so if you get the no safety model it is likely to be your trigger forever.

I like the look of the shilen and the price isin't bad, the trigger tech is a good deal but 50.00 isin't jewel cost more than the rifle originally did. I really think I would be happy with a quality 2 pound trigger. Timney seem the second cheapest that gets good reviews but it looks like it takes several different adjustments to get it tuned ie pressure, over travel, sear engagement. I would like to adjust 1 screw.

Timney seem the second cheapest that gets good reviews but it looks like it takes several different adjustments to get it tuned ie pressure, over travel, sear engagement. I would like to adjust 1 screw. From Timney's Instructions..... "TRIGGER ADJUSTMENT: The screw on the rear of the trigger adjusts sear engagement. This screw is pre-set and should not be adjusted below this setting. The bottom front screw adjusts pull weight. Turning this screw in increases pull weight. Turning it out decreases pull weight. Do not reduce pull weight below 1.5 pounds or [8 oz forthe Calvin Elite Series.]" There is only one screw adjustment. I had to take a Dremel on the stock to make clearance for that screw once adjusted, but that was no biggie.

I have a Trigger Tech on my Excalibur Crossbow and could not be happier. If their 700 model is anything like their crossbow model you will be very happy.

I have a Trigger Tech on my RemBrux and could not be happier with it. It's currently set at 2# and is as nice as any trigger I have ever used.

I've had it for two months. Got it within a couple of days of ordering it.

Did you order from TriggerTech or somebody else? EAbrown has them on backorder and a seller weeks ago on ebay listed one for use with factory safety but ended up being the no safety model.
Does yours have a safety?
