Tuesday after richard, bill and I got done shooting 2 of my brothers and a nephew who live in the mts,100 miles away came down to the range so I could help them set up their muzzleloaders. My youngest brother has a 50 cal stock savage I had sold him a few years ago. Neither of them had shot a muzzleloader out to 3oo yds. The club had just put up 2 steel targets at 300 yds, don't remember the size but they are small. He uses 43.5 grs of 4759 and a 250 sst in his 50. After we got them all set up I decided that I wanted to shoot at the steel target with his 50.He had a burris 3x9 balistic rect.I guess about where to hold and hit the steel target.I lucked out and hit it the first time. Then they all wanted to try it.So I told them where to hold. They had a field day shooting up all his loads that he had brought with him and some I had taken with me for him. They couldn't get over hitting that small target at 300 yds with a rifle little on a muzzleloader. By the time we got through I was wore out but enjoyed watching their excitment with the steel target. The 2 shooting the regular ( I believe both were cva's)had a few problems but we managed to get them both good out to 200 yds.One even got a one inch group at 200 with his shooting bh209. Had a great day at the range.
