Has anyone used Blue Dot in a duplex load or otherwise? I've been pouring thru the LOAD INFO site and as yet can't find any data. If anyone has some experience with this powder I'd appreciate some feed back on your results. My local Bass Pro finally got some in and I'm considering it as a duplex in lieu of Clays, which is totally unavailable in my area along with Red Dot. I would be using under a charge of IMR4198.
Thanks
Steve

Get a pound of it and start shooting. Try 10/50 honestly it should be just fine. I know you have a breaker gun so I wouldn't go over 10 as a booster but 10 should be fine.

The pressure traces of that similar load are well under 45K which I thought was surprising. I may try some of it. My 'breaker' gun while having those pesky scope mounting holes, does have a heavier contour than the mfg, and an Arrowhead style BP which as we know is smaller in dia. Every little bit helps, that and being safe and conservative.
Thanks Chad!!
BTW, how is/was your expansion with those FTX's?

BTW, how is/was your expansion with those FTX's? I haven't recovered a bullet as of yet that I have shot with my smokeless. The deer I've shot with them have been complete pass threw. I shot one with a black powder gun one year at 230 yards and found it, complete and mushroom. With the smokeless loads I have seen some fragging so I check the bullet channel very closely for left overs. I'd get the blue dot before it's gone. You can always try loads and go back to 4759 for deer hunting. My thing is 4759 won't be around for ever so you need other boosters to replace it.

Finally got out to try some of that blue dot I picked up. Pretty impressive. I went with a milder load to start out, 250FTX .060 veg Win 209 10/50 Blue Dot/IMR4198. 1st shot was with a clean and cool bore, 4th shot was totally my error, the other 3 weren't half bad. I hope to try this combo out at 200 next week sometime. I think I'm liking the blue dot.

Looks great! Are you right handed? Something I learned in the military while in boot camp was how to deal with a stiff trigger, not saying you have one. If you have a stiff trigger instead of putting the tip of your finger on the trigger wrap your finger around the trigger putting more of the meat of your finger on the trigger. I believe in theory is suppose to be like a big gear verses a little gear on a bike, making things a little easier so to speak. With my Optima Slufoot conversion where I can't adjust trigger I have to wrap my finger around trigger to get a better trigger pull.
Your groups are looking great, and that new bench you made should really help you shine! Looking forward to your 200 yard groups!

I am right handed on most things, shooting is one of them. I think you're right on the trigger pull. I had SMI lighten up the trigger some but it still could be lighter..no creepage tho.
I really appreciate all the advice and feed back.
Thanks
Steve
