This setup still has the factory barrel installed. I have the hunter bolt nose kit installed and savage breach plug. I want to shoot Barnes 250 or 300 MZ bullets since they work well in my other muzzleloader. I typically shoot 90 grains by volume of BH209. Anyone else shoot this setup?
What loads are you guys shooting out of the factory barrels with BH209 and hunters bolt nose kit?

Is this in a factory Rem 700ML barrel? 45 or 50? Saboted in 50 or sabotless in 45? OK so boltnose and savage plug installed. Need more info. 10

So you have the factory barrel with hunters breech plug. witch is not the savage plug and hunter bolt kit. start at 90gr BH209 and go up and see what she likes. stop at 120gr . bullet my be fine sabot you my have to change if yours dont fit good.

I'd suggest start at 70 gr by weight. Then move up in 2 or 3 grain increments to most accurate loading and stop at the max of 83 by weight. I prefer 300 grain bullets at .458 cal. in my 50s. Partial to the 300 Speer in 458. I also lightly knurl all bullets that I shoot in sabots. Bullet/sabot bore fit should be firm and not loose or too tight. JMHO. 10

Do you guys have issues with sabots tearing up at higher loads?

Did you buy a knurling tool or are you just roughing up with a carbide file?

Hot barrel will weaken sabots and it's worse in hot weather. Knurl with file. 10
