I have a 50 cal knight mountaineer mzl and for 3 years I have shot bh powder at 110 grains by volume an powerbelt aero light 250 grain bullet.I was wondering about using the s&w 500 bullet.Could I get information on the particulars on this? what grain bullet, what goes between bullet abnd powder.Thought I would try to get away from the plastic skirt under the powerbelt bullets. Thanks for any info you'all might have.

Seems a big jump from powerbelts to 500 sw bullet. Have you tried simple bullet like Barnes290 teZ or knight bloodline bullet. The 50 sabotless will be a challenge to get proper sized bullet then will need a wad between bullet and powder.

I can suggest bullets i use in 54x50 sabots
Hornady 50 300gr FTX would likely be the first one to try. Its fairly cheap and effective on deer with my sabot loads.
Speer 50 325gr UniCore JHP. Very cheap IF you can find them. Great bullet if you dont need a lot of velocity.
Remington 50 385gr CoreLok HP. Roughly 66cents each and it has one of the best BCs of all the 500S&W bullets. Very very nasty bullet but over kill for deer.
Sizing will be the issue unless your bore is just slightly over .501 Most of these 500S&W bullets run very close to .501

Back in my slamfire smoker days I shot mostly TC "cheapshot" bullets and TC 300 SST in sabots and for full bore it was 223 gr. to 350 gr. belted bullets. Then the super slugs in the White. I'd suggest going on the Precision Rifle site and looking at their selection of bullets if you're shooting smokey. 10
