This post is to kinda check the interest in possibly have a sml match at the nmlra range in friendship,in. Match would probably sometime late fall and consist of 100-500 yds paper match at 100 yd increments. This is only in early discussion stage but nmlra leadership are listening. This would be a independent match from nmlra nationals but would be competed at there range which is a fine facility and would be another opportunity to showcase these sml works of art and demonstrate what a ultra modern muzzleloader is capable of. So basically is there any interest?

It would be nice to have a 500yd shoot-off at a nice range.

Any payout, or does the range keep all the money?

They charge very little and usually give medals and door prizes. My thoughts to start is keep entry fee low so more will attend. But i guess could raise entry fee and have cash pay out?

How far is Friendship from Indy? Think Indy is 6 hrs from me. Late Oct. would be out for me, that is pre-rut around these parts.

Many questions for you... Will there be various classes? Broken down by or limiting gun weight? Class by caliber? Will there be limits on rests used? Will there be limits on powders/boosters used? How about optics?
And MOST importantly...who is organizing this event?
Is the NMLRA 100% in charge of organizing and running this event, or is this another Deliverance Challenge?
I'm interested, if this is 100% ran by, and organized by the NMLRA.
I'm not interested, if this is just another tax write off / used car salesman expo.
Thanks

Easy boy!! Give this one a chance, might be a fair way to get a higher percentage of user built rifles at a shoot.

I think this would be a great thing.
I'd be willing to put some $$ towards it to help sponsor if it's done right. Don't want to scare Josh away.

This question was asked by the man that organizes the current NMLRA inline match at Friendship. He has approached you guys to see how much interest there would be.
IMO its a great opportunity and a very rare thing for Friendship to consider. Smokeless has never been allowed there in any muzzleloader match. This would be a first for sanctioned Friendship competition.
I posted some videos for him to see and he is very aware of the performance potential.
I have no idea about restrictions. That sounds like an area for your input. Typically at the inline match its based on weight for Hunter class vs Unlimited class. Front support only, rear stock support is not allowed. I think maybe a caliber division would be worth considering too but thats just me.

How long is the range? Are there spots to shoot up to 1000 yards? The .45s will shoot 1/2 MOA up to 800....or farther. But I want to see Kash's Swing Lock .416 shoot at 1000.

In my life's experience's I have found that "friendly "competition . Or informal competition. Has always been more relaxed or just plain more fun. Put up cash for a prize and its just like throwing out chum. It wont be.lo g until the sharks start to circle....cash and prizes wil bring.out the cheaters...and the cry babies like you wont believe. It does'nt matter if its racing...shooting...archery...you name it. Put a cash prize on it ...sit back and watch the show. And yeah ...take these things to Friendship a national facility and start showing everyone in the world these things are 800yd guns...I wonder how long it will take for the feds to take notice..people with UNREGISTERED mzl loader's doing this. So I ask....when it is all done...Good exposure? Bad exposure? Because if its done in Friendship....exposure is a sure thing.. Big differance between a "good old boy" shoot and a formal money shoot. Been there done that in other forms. Andtakes the fun out of it for me. Drop

Friendly shoot, HA! Friendly shoots don't charge a $120 to fund someones personal range! I can enter an ASA event for less than that and the chance is there to get my money back if I am good enough. I shot enough 3-D to know competition brings the crybabies and cheaters, whether it is trophy or money prizes. We expose everything to the public by posting it on the internet, and there are LEO's as members here. Find it very hard to believe the Feds don't know what we are up to already.

Maybe any dispersion of wealth can be in a door prize set up. That way drop has a chance of winning and he can quit the crybabyin already..

Guys..............
I wouldn't even consider asking about prizes or anything, which there probably wouldn't be. They......... MAY......... furnish a couple medals or a plaque, but PLEASE REMEMBER............. This is an exceptional offer from those possibly making it happen at the NMLRA home grounds at Friendship, IN. If it did happen, plan on being the first ever to compete with smokeless muzzleloaders at Friendship.
THIS would be the chance that many of you have been waiting for. Embrace it, sign up and attend. All the custom builders would get the chance to show their work and quality.
I can assure you, shooting will either be X sticks or bench (bring your own portable), and ONLY the front of the rifle can be supported, by either bags or rests. NOTHING but the shoulder in the rear. You'd be shooting under NMLRA rules.
I'm only speculating, but the cost would probably be the price of the targets, similar to the in-line May match, $20.00
Those Fisk boys can shoot by the way...........

I would much rather see a $20 entry relaxed fun shoot, than a $200 entry "pro staff" sponsored factory team event. It would cost me a few grand in travel expense alone to round trip that. Plus the time off

Well i see there interest!!! This is only in discussion stage . Fivebull is range officer and organizer at nmlra. This shoot will not be sanctioned by nmlra but we would be guest and i will guarantee a professionally range competition with no cash prizes. I was asked to research ideal for fivebull. I will keep all updated with discussion. Longest range is 500 yds. Probably for first shoot there could be load limits and bullet weight limits set. And one class but if responses are good maybe more classes

I make motion for "lead sleds". Or at least a rear bag. Shooting a 335 APB @ 3100 is tough on the shoulder! Or how about Kash's Swing Lock slinging a 444 grain bullet @ 2800?.....mommy... How many shots in a weekend?

How many shots in a weekend? Now PLEASE don't take this wrong, but you may have to tune them down. But to my knowledge, sleds or rear bags won't be allowed. It will most likely be determined by shooter skill. I sent 46 rounds shooting 180grs from the Ultimate and am old. Its doable........
