I hunt with a compound bow. I have little interest in using a crossbow. Other than the distance limitations, a crossbow is like using a rifle. no drawing motion to conceal, no weight to hold for who knows how long that deer will wait to take that next step. So I have no interest in crossbow info.
I also don't want to hold all the weight, as with a longbow without the advantages of a letoff, as I do not have that kind of strength or endurance.
So why mix all three into the same category?

I am exactly in your corner in terms of how I choose to hurl an arrow. Can't imagine not using a compound for the same reasons you list. However.......
Trying to make a specialized forum regarding launching arrows vs bolts, or let-off vs no-let off is kinda un-needed on Doug's IMO. The board is fairly diversified already and the Archery forum doesn't get a huge amount of hits. If a topic interests either type of "archer", it is easily seen. (Only 28 threads combined since the new board has been up). All activity in the past few months can be viewed on one page.
I hope this doesn't curb your interest or desire to post within it. I'm sure an Administrator will also address you suggestion...that's just my take.

wilms is right. we learned from the old board what areas had little activity and combined them to try and create more activity in thoes areas. in the archery area you can make a post about pros and cons of all three and see why a person makes their choice and state laws on resticitons if you want to know.

As already mentioned, the archery sections don't get much traffic. On the Old Board Archery was broken down into The Bowhunter's Forum & the Crossbow Forum From June of 2004 until January of 2009 they had a combined thread count of 157 with 963 replies! When we set up this new Board we wanted to reduce the forums that got very little traffic in hopes that when folks saw new posts they might at least visit the forum. I am not saying that this won't change in the future, but until a forum can stand on its own with at least 1 new post on a daily basis I see no need to break it into sub sections. edge. PS there were about 1600 days and less than 1000 total posts divided between those two forums

So I have no interest in crossbow info. I also don't want to hold all the weight, as with a longbow without the advantages of a letoff, as I do not have that kind of strength or endurance. So why mix all three into the same category? 1) Many x-bow hunters shot bows, both compound and traditional, for many years and now are physically limited to a x-bow. The trajectory limitations are still very real and limiting. I just wouldn't read the x-bow threads if they bother you. I hunt with compound, recurve, and x-bow and enjoy reading all three. 2) The very reason many have gone to a x-bow. 3) They are still similiar - shooting arrows at short range. I hunt with the recurve more than compound and x-bow but don't have any problem with deer hunting with centerfire weapons, which I don't do(no season here and I only hunt here). Just my thoughts.
