I am not a target shooter.I would like a scope with some kind horizontal hash marks for out to 300 yards.I was thinking of a Leupold with the Boone and Crockett reticle, but have never used one.Once i am on paper out to 300 yards,I will only practice off hand or with my bogpod.i don`t care about 1/2" groups, but minute of Moose to 300.Thanks for your comments.norseman1

The Redfiled Revolution Accurange reticle works well out to 300, but you need to play with it to get the drops figured out. It's fairly cheap and tough enough to stand up to reasonable loads on my Encore conversion.

Leupold VXR CDS Firedot would do great. No hash marks, no reticle clutter. Just spin the dial to 200, 300 etc and fire once Leupold cuts you the Free turret based on your info. Hard to beat them for a hunting scope.

Those circles just work. The Redfield mentioned above was also a good one. Pretty fool proof. I rarely say say this but the Leupold BC reticle was a bit fine and hard to see in almost all conditions except perfect light. i like the recommendation of the VXR with Firedot and Turret system myself, great scope and it's way under priced for what all you get.

Weaver super slam 3-15x44 with exposed turrets and plan duplex is a great scope for the money. Natchez shooters supply. Put a ballistic drop chart on your butt stock and twist and shoot.

been using a Nikon BDC for 2 years but haven't shot it at the range over 225y. I like not having to dial a turret in a hunting situation ,most of the time its a small window to shoot and knowing the range roughly i just move to the correct circle. it wont ever be as accurate as a range finder and turrets but I don't expect it to be.That said they replaced mine after it died last season

For around $500 My older coin slot VX-III duplex reticle with some stoney point knobs, and some lapped PRW rings has served me well under some stout loads for almost 5yrs now. 325FTX/70gr H4198 mostly. I'm trying my 3x12 XTR on it soon though.

Bushnell Elite. They are rugged, clear, and hold their value.
