Still working on some loads and tweeking but think I almost got it figured out today. Manners stock Vortex Viper PST 4-16×50 MRAD1 illuminated Leupold Mark 4 base TPS medium rings Kash♡Myers 209 Pierce bolt 350 grains of pain Best target from this morning jumping right to left. 2,3,5 are tight. I will index next time to see if it helps. Always remember to put brake on after loading especially if you shoot free recoil Gun was built by CmC Firearms (myers129). Stock was fitted and bedded along with Mark 4 base. I sent black BDL bottom metal so Cole cerecoated it to match the blasted barreled action.

Awesome looking gun! I was looking at the brake and it looks like the port holes are tilted a little towards the top. I don't know anything about brakes except they need to be timed to the barrel or at least that's what I thought I heard you guys say. I'm not sure what that means but I thought it meant it had to be centered on the sides of the barrel or not tilted. Again I have no knowledge of brakes other that what people have mentioned here so I'm trying to understand the timing part of the brake.
Awesome looking gun and can not wait to see the next range report.

I think timinig a brake refers more to the rectangular tactical style of brakes where you want it to be square and level to the gun. The radial brakes I don't think it matters, to a point.

Chad, the Harrell's tactical has side ports that exit perpendicular to the bore but angled upwards on both sides. The muscle brakes have ports angled back towards the shooter(except the first port which shields the blast) and the ports lay flat to the gun.
Omega, that's pretty decent shooting for the second short outing in the summer heat. I bet with a little more use you will have it driving tacks as well as your other rifles.

Didn't even look at 45omegas brake in his pic. Yeah that one would need timed.

That would explain it, I was thinking of a hot rod car that had the mufflers on the side angled up, kinda like the car on cars 2 when I saw that brake thought it might be kind of like that, yeah I know, but I have a 2 year old and 4 year old and we just watched that movie last weekend.

The angled up possibly helps with muzzle rise but that 416 goes where it wants anyways.

Great looking gun Steve, good first outings, I know that caliber is new to ya and I know you will soon have it dialed in. Keep that brake on...

I made a trip to the cMc factory today to clean out my stuff from Coles storage and give him some room. I got to see the new bolts in person, they are very nice. I believe there is one sitting there with my name on it for a Rem CF/Shily build. Can't wait. Great work on the bolts guys, glad Steve has one already to put thru the paces.

Omega's gun would probably shoot a lot better if the brake was on straight

Omega's gone would probably shoot a lot better if the brake was on straight Kash's talk to text would work a lot better if he took those pork swords out of his mouth.

It was a good day, kept him busy and he was already under the gun to get out of there to go for a weekend getaway with the family, none the less Cole installed 2 muzzle brakes for me while I was there, one on my .45 and one on Carri's .40 and also put a new Timney trigger in my 45 while it was apart. Talk about service.... He did a nice job and now that i drug home a truckload of guns, I have a ton of testing and shooting to do.. I'll post some pics when I can get out and shoot them.

Nice looking rig Omega.........! The thing is, most all of these custom barrels will shoot pretty darn good with the right load and the right nut behind the butt! Richard

Rifle Basix set around 2lbs. Leupold Mark 4 base Defcon bedded TPS medium rings. Probably could have got away with lows but didnt feel like sending back to Brownells. The stock is comfy. No wait as there is an eBay seller thats here in PA that must order a bunch at a time? I just got back from the hardware store. I now have tubing to load w/o taking the brake off. Next trip will be indexing and MORE POWDER! I'll drive it out and let you shoot it Guy. Brake off of course

Good looking groups. What speeds are you getting with the various bullets? Are those CE billets next to the Barnes? I see they are annealed. I anneal all CE bullets and I think it works.

Around 2500FPS. Chrony acted goofy both days. Might be time for an upgrade. Yes, those are annealed 350gr Cutting Edge's. The longer ones with the highest BC on the website. If I didn't anneal the Cutting Edge's I don't think I could size them. I picked the Cutting Edges up out of the classifieds. I can't believe nobody else jumped on them for the price I now have some 300 and 350gr Barnes TSX (non tipped) flat base to shoot also. Sometime down the road I might shell out the money for some Rocky Mountain bullets as I am sure they size easier then these coppers.

Today I tried some annealed 300gr TSX's. Forgot I had marked the bullets for indexing and quickly remembered when the first bullet basically free fell down the bore. Instant ignition though with a loose bullet, slow powder, .030 bushing and a Fed209A Shots 2,3 and 4 I indexed and was pleasantly surprised with the 100yd group. Time will tell on its repeatability.

Virtually no vertical again but really tightened the group up. Looks like your hunch was right, nice shooting.
