Took the lil gal out to test some more powders and get her some more trigger time with her RemPac shorty. I didn't get a pic of all the targets but did get one of this one. These groups were shot after a 5 shot fouling group with 180 XTP's and straight RL-7, which actually shot pretty good for being on a clean barrel. Not a bad day at the range and got to test some other powders we have not tried in the 40 cal yet. She only pulled one shot all day, and that is in one of these groups. I have been trying to test loads with velocities between 2300-2500 fps, to keep the recoil manageable for her. I believe she will be ready and comfortable come deer season this year. Always good to get the kid out and behind the gun.

She is catching on fast, more trigger time and she will be kicking the old geezers backside. Nice shooting by the little gal.

Nice shooting. These guns don't seem to picky on the powder. She needs a muzzle brake!!

H335, Benchmark, N133, N140, RL15, 4064, 10X, 3031, 4895 and Varget have all shot well. You're right Steve, seems they are not super picky on powders and yes she wants a brake...but 2300-2500 with the 200 SST or 195 Barnes will do what she needs to do. Maybe next year if she behaves I'll have one stuck on there. She can shoot one with my gun if the need arises. There's a list of powders we've tried with success for any 40 cal guys with questions about powders that will work.

Thanks all, but she's a natural, she gets a little preaching from me, but my bench manners aren't the best in the world so I'm prolly not the best teacher, I just preach the common basics. If I could get Dave to come with us and school her, she'd likely be kicking both our arses, maybe that's why Dave won't go with us. Right now we are just getting trigger time and searching for different loads, come fall, we will dial in the most accurate ones we come up with and see how good she can shoot. She's sizing bullets and helping weigh powder and keeping the range log book up, so she's learning all aspects. She watches every bullet go down and makes sure it hits that witness mark and spots her shot then records the chrony speed in the log book. She's loving all aspects of sml'ing, heck she's even looking at every primer that comes out.

She's way ahead of most of us on here with the details,,,Good for her....From burn rates of different powders, bullet construction, sizing, primers, chrono readings,etc.....She's learning more than most anyone that shoots a gun, much less a muzzleloader......
