I've only used wool wads and while they work fine the smell is less than appealing.
For guys shooting sabot less both .45 and .40 what works best for you as far as thickness of veggie wads? Found any big differences between them?

Never tried wool. I have some .060x.462 veggie wads that I shot with 327 match hunters over IMR3031. PM me an address and I'll stick you some in the mail. Kyle

I have only used the thick wonder wads. 44cal-45cal they are dry and measure about .120 in thickness. Funny I have not smelled anything from shooting these wads or have my customers. All the Shilen and Douglas barrels have shot extremely well using this thick wad. One tiny drop of cheap super glue will hold them on the base of the bullet and have not effect on accuracy. The brand name is Ox-yoke. But I recently bought some from Easter Maine dry wool wads which are cut a little nicer than the OX-Yoke wad. Both worked the same.
Its a cheap investment for about 7 bucks.

I have pretty much stuck with the .060 x .462" veggie wads. I have tried the .030's and they shoot the same as the .060's. I have shot two .030's and still no difference. And, I have shot those smelly wool wonder wads that Elkman uses and find no difference. Since the .030 and the .060 are the same price, I just buy the .060 and am done with it. Even with a muzzle brake on, my aluminum powder funnel will push the veggie wad down thru the brake and square it up in the bore so no need to stick those wool wads to the bullet.............but whatever works best for you is the way to go! Have shot both, 2-.030's or 1-.060, I'm not good enough to see any difference in accuracy.

I've used wool and veggie...never found any difference between the two in regards to accuracy..I think the veggies seal better given the fact that I get around 25fps more velocity with them over the wool wads..I'll be using the veggies when the temps drop...Seems to me they both have their own unique smell. Richard Just a question if the .030 and the .060 shot the same why did you decide to go with the .060? Just a wondering mind asking? I tried the .o3o single and double found no difference but I don't shoot well enough to be sure?

Richard, sorry to pick on you, but if you were hunting deer with the 290 TEZ would you use the .60 veggie or go bare? What duplex would you choose?
