So is the sale at natchez on Weaver Super Slams right now the best bet for good reliable glass for these big boomers? IMO yes, the Weaver Super Slams would be nearly impossible to match dollar for dollar, at Natchez's price. Other opinions may vary, but the Super Slam is a he.. of a scope for the price they sell them for.

For the money getting a Super Slam in the $300 price range is a buy. If your shooting close in the 2-10X50 with the EBX reticle is a awesome choice. If you want a bit more magnification and side focus you can go 3-15X50 or 4-20X50. If you want to keep it simple the 2-10X42 would be OK. Probly the best buy is the 3-15X50 with the illuminated dual-X retical (800348) for $389. About the only drawback is the weight, your up in the 20-24oz range, because they are built like a brick outhouse.

A question for the Nightforce owners:
Would you buy another one if you somehow lost the one you already own? Im looking at a 5.5-22 x 56 NXS, it's a take off with lapped Nightforce rings and looking for input from guys who own one.

I sold two last year, sent back another from T&E, and I have shot Nightforce since before there was an NXS line. I'm shooting Bushnell Elite Tactical this year and am about to order one of the LRHS models. NF makes great optics with bomb proof adjustments. If you aren't shooting one for a living I would look at the SHV (I have not personally owned one) but I just have a hard time anymore spending the money on Alpha FFP optics when there are others out there who are offering really good optics at reasonable prices.

I have an ATACR second focal plane 5x25x56 with the MOAR reticle on my smokeless. If the boogie man stole my scope or something like that, no doubt I would replace it with another Nightforce. Kyle

I have two Nightforce scopes a NXS 5.5-22X56 and an Atacr both are super scopes customer service is excellent if you ever need it. I would buy another without second thought. I'm thinking about getting a SHV when I sell my Vortex PST 6-24 MOA.

Ive been looking at the SHV recently as a possible..from the reviews I've seen, they have quality glass and nightforce durability..for a little over a 1k bucks they seem to be a economical way to go.....Anybody using them here..?

Thanks for the advise.
I picked up the Nightforce NSX 5.5x22x56 with lapped TPS steel rights. The scope was mounted and never shot, not a marks that I could find. It came with the box, sun shade, bikini cover and Bulter Creek flip up covers. I got the scope for a great price so I'm a happy camper.

I've had more luck and never a problem with two Nikon Omega 3-9 with crappy BDC reticles. They have 5 inch eye relief. Now I have a bunch of scopes that are 3-5 times as much but don't work better. My Omegas sit there and laugh at me but I'm too proud to put them back on rifles or give them away.

They are a very good company. I have 3 Vortex scopes and a pair of their Razor 8X42 bino's that I use for 3-d archery.

Of my MLIIs one has a 3X9 Hawke and no problem so far but I shoot very modest loadings. the other MLII has an ancient Weaver 1" steel tube fixed 4X power, it's heavy for it's size but rock solid. No problem there either. Had a Pentax, BSA and Simmons eaten by the MLIIs before I got to my current situation. I mostly shot RF and my 17s before as CF isn't legal here for deer etc... Most shots for me are close, 5 to 150 yd, and if I could see I'd still use open sights but old eyes aint so good any more. Both the Hawke and Weaver were originally on my old slamfire smokers but got to the MLIIs after the other scopes failed. If I could find old Weavers I'd use them but they are really hard to locate. JMHO, 10 ga
