Nothing Fancy But can this gun shoot, it's a standard small shank ml2 action, with a Brux barrel and the new arrowhead plug, setting in a factory Savage laminated stock. I will note for those who have had similar issues with bulged primers, I had to open the flame channel to 5/32 and go to a .030 bushing to rid the problem. I installed a rayhill ramrod block in the back of the r/r channel and attached a Remington barrel band, eliminating all barrel pressure normally created by the ram rod. I also installed a third pillar that Rossman milled for me and floated the barrel. I actually had installed a Rifle Basix trigger, but reinstalled the accu trigger. Topped it with a Trijicon 2.5x10x56 on a murphy base. The gun was bead blasted by Hankins, which really pulls all the SS parts into one uniform look, and looks great. I don't advertise myself as a gunsmith because I am not, but I will add that I do all my own work. This particular gun will be the rifle of choice for a upcoming musk ox hunt in the NWT in October, and possible a bighorn sheep hunt in August. I smooth formed four different bullets and they all shot inch groups, here is a 1/2" group center to center using 300gr match hunters at 115 yards.

Nice shooting. I am only going from memory but isn't 5/32 the standard flame channel with a .030 opening. I was thinking 7/32 with a .040. I may well be wrong and if so I stand corrected. Nice looking finished product and have a good hunt.

I believe the PFC for the Arrowhead plug starts out at 5/32 (.145) if I'm not mistaken. From what I gather if you're going to shoot that gun in a colder climate a larger PFC, .040 bushing and maybe even a duplex load has been recommended.

Well done Jeff, envious of the NWT musk ox hunt...should be a good time Mike I'm not, it's cold up there and I'm over being cold for a few years. I'd have to pull your sled just to stay warm. I also don't want ice Indians trying to feed me whale blubber. I'm jealous of the bighorn hunt. If I were a rich man sheep and goats are all I'd hunt. Instead I just hunt the lowly whitetail and may get to squeeze in an Axis and Sika hunt this year if I'm lucky.

Yup, cuz I don't do hungry either. The old adage, "Ounces make pounds and pounds make pain" doesn't count with regard to food. The more you eat the lighter your pack gets.

Just confimed with Luke that original flame channel on my arrowhead plug was indeed 9/64, and was opened to 5/32. jeff~

Nice build Jeff and plenty accurate--those Brux seem to lend themselves well to landriders.
If you're having primer bulging problems, open the PFC up 1/64" at a time to a max. of 7/32", until bulging subsides.
Im thinking of going more so I can use a .035 or .040 bushing. Even thou I used a .030 ventliner in a savage plug for 14 years with no ill effects. We as men are just never happy with a good thing and have to push the limits, but then again we can't do it when were pushing daisys! jeff~

A hunting gun that shoots .5 moa,,, you do not need much more.
The musk ox aren't too bad as long as you have some terrian to sneak up on them and your guide knows how they will move. The sheep and goats are a lot of work at high altitude but you know that. I spent a weekend up at Yellowknife working out of the CFNA HQ and spent a day with the Canadian Rangers at a DEW site.
