Since the bore is smaller ,could a smaller than #7 contour be safe to shoot ? I have a Mcmillan hunter stock that is just not big enough for a #7 to fit in and would like to go with a .40 on my next gun.

I've done several on modified sendero contours and feel very confident that they are as safe as we can possibly make them. They are much easier to pack around with that contour.

I'd go 1.35" for 8" on the shank... Just kidding. I had ~ 1500 shots on my 1.12" Savage large shank .416 barrel.

Seems a little more barrel weight would help reduce recoil also Most all the stocks i use have small barrel channels i typically open up whole channel with dremel tool and brownells barrel channel scraper a little extra then glass bed channel with tape on barrel for clearance. I do pillars and action bedding1st then glass barrel channel last.

Since I most likely would shoot 200 sst's or 195 barnes sabotless I'm thinking recoil shouldn't be an issue....I haven't been able to get a new build in the works for awhile ,but I have a 700ml action and Mcmillan stock just collecting dust and the .40 cal guys have got me interested in going that route.....I will just have to see what I can do.....thanks for the help guys...
