I purchased a Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter, even though I'm a novice pistol shooter I am not happy with the factory sights. I find it hard to keep the front sight centered in the rear and also find it hard to keep the elevation of the front sight the same. I see that Williams offers a set of fire sights and thought that those would be better, or I see Ruger offers a different rear sight that is a V with a vertical line in stead of the notch style currently installed on the gun. Opinions wanted.

I have always liked big squared off rear sights and a big square front sight. Always seemed easy to "square" things up on a target. On my GP100 .357 and MK-II .22 LR, they are identical sight pictures and maybe I have just got used to them.
Sight pictures are in the eye of the beholder. What ever works best for you is the best way.

I like the rear but put a brass tipped partridge up front on my Bisley Blackhawk.

Maybe I need some more trigger time being a novice. I don't quite have 50 rounds through the gun yet, I also assume that pistols are like rifles and will either like or dislike a particular ammunition? I purchased two boxes of the Remington HTP 210 gr. SP it was what my dealer ordered. I could ask for something specific if I had any idea of what to use. I also imagine that some instruction would help.

A good tune up will make a difference and some lighter loads will help. I like heavy flat hard lead for hunting to.

What do you mean by tune up? Lets talk technique, I have been watching a lot of YouTube and see that many shooters shoot with both eyes open. Is this the norm for shooting pistols and revolvers? My particular gun is a 41 Mag and being a resident of the communist republic of NY ammo is pretty much non-existent unless I order it from a dealer. No more internet sales here. I have not seen many lighter loads with the exception of the Barnes 180 gr. XBP, 210 seems the norm and recoil does not seem bad to me.

Tune up: Timing, trigger job, cylinder mouths even, line boring when possible, etc.
I shoot everything (bows, pistols, shotguns, rifles with irons and optics) with both eyes open. Better FOV, depth perception, and less fatigue/strain.
Proper technique is essential as is a proper rest.

Depends on what your using it for. I started out shooting bullseye pistol and we used a "six o'clock hold". The reason being the targets had a black bull and you could see your sights better. Then when I went to shooting IPSCA and IDPA it was 3 dot sights with a combat style hold, where ever the front dot was is where the round was going, To get a bit more accuracy you can get your slghts adjusted to the point where the point of impact is just at the top of the front sight blade, There is a lot of Kentucky windage when dealing with pistols and range. What is good at 25yds aint' at even 50yds unless your dealing with like a 5.7. I have the 3 dot sights on all my pistols. Some are the glow in the dark Mepros some are not. I only have one with a fiber optic front blade. I also have some that are different colors front and rear so it is align the dots with the front dot on target and your good to go for quick shots. The fiber optics are good but if you loose light the dim. I think it is Truglo that makes a combined fiber optic that has a vial of tritium under it for low-light use. For hunting it is tough to beat the small holographic/reflex sights,

I recently put an UltraDot 30 on my ruger Super Redhawk and really really like it. I was pretty good with open sights but this red dot makes a word of difference.
