I am picking up my Rem 700SA from my local gun shop today and would like to order a stock this weekend. I am leaning towards getting the Boyds Pro Varmint in either Forest Camo or Pepper laminate. I already have a thumbhole stock in pepper laminate on my bad bull. I like that color but looking at maybe doing something different with this one. I will be getting rid of the bad bull at some point this year. Has anyone used the Adjustable Comb option Boyds offers on the Pro Varmint? If you have forest camo or any other colors feel free to post up a picture. It helps to see the color on complete gun vs just square of the color on the website.
Thanks. Mike

Those look great. Anyone know anyone who used the adjustable comb version yet?

Just ordered that style and color 3 days ago. Hope it looks as good as Danno's when I'm done. Don't know of anyone with the adjustable comb. Sorry.

Thanks for everyone who provided pictures or feedback. My Stock is ordered. I went with the standard finish Forest Camo with Adjustable Comb and Pachmayr Pad. It's a roll of dice on how the adjustable comb will be.

That's pretty cool. I better not show that to my son or I will have a new project to try

That's pretty cool. I better not show that to my son or I will have a new project to try The dipper did say this is the widest stock they have done and was a little tricky to even out the film pattern but did sound excited when she left me a voicemail that it turned out great and she thinks I will like it. Its just a long wait on the Pony Express from Idaho. Hopefully it will be here by the end of next week so I can get it back on the barreled action so the boy can get back to shooting.

It is a Kriptic pattern called Highlander. I am also a hydro dipper and stock that pattern.

That will be a neat stock. Can I ask what you see as the positive or negative with your Bad Bull, having never seen or shot one in real life?

Cowhunter, The Bad Bull is very accurate but I don't like using the decapping pin on the ramrod to punch out the primer from the primer pocket. It will shoot .5MOA out to 300 and less than MOA at 400. That was with the 275BE sized from Bad Bull and the 140 grains of 4350. I never got the chance to see how much better I could do sizing my own bullets to see what my particular gun liked. I have a swinglock smooth form sizing die. The breach plug doesn't last as many shots before accuracy starts falling off. I got a bad breach plug that wasn't sealing properly and was experiencing some gas cutting on the breach plug. I sent it to Bad Bull to get looked at because I felt a rough spot when installing the breach plug. Bad Bull looked at it and said everything was fine. However, when I went to the range, the rough spot was still there. I was still getting gas cutting and it ended up freezing my breach plug inside the barrel. I contribute the rough spot not allowing the two portion breach plug to completely seal. I sent it back to Bad Bull and they are putting a brand new barrel on it. I am going to put it up for sale when I get it back. Its not a bad muzzleloader. Like I said, it is accurate but I just want something different and a muzzleloader with a ramrod attached to the barrel and in the stock. I think a Single breach plug would be better than the two stage breach plug. I never had any problems with the muzzleloader until it got the rough spot inside the barrel. If I kept it, I would probably switch over to IMR4198 or H4198 instead of the IMR4350. I could get similar velocity with more shots per pound of powder using the 4198.

555. Good information. What loading pressure Is required on the bullets Bad Bull sells? I'm assuming it uses large magnum rifle primers. Any idea how far the primer is from the powder? It is always interesting to see how many different yet mostly good systems have evolved for smokeless shooting.

I have a friend in Iowa who bought a bad bull back in '08. He likes it but uses it sparingly. These guns that some of the builders put together here on Doug's are light years ahead of those boys. The breech plug he has with it is a convoluted cluster.

BP wouldn't last long in mine Bad Bull either. Best accuracy I receive got out of 73 gr 4198 and size 325 MH Mine is no longer a Bad Bull it's been Myersize
