This is a continuation of Jeff's range report #2.
Today was the first time that I was able to make it to the range after doing some basic groundwork since receiving the rifle. The weather was beautiful for MN.
I spent some time in my yard shooting over my chrono to determine velocity w/ various powder charges. It mapped out like this using a Parker 275gr bullet:
This is out of a 26" Brux barrel w/ a 275gr Parker bullet.
60gr IMR4198 = 2460fps
65gr IMR4198 = 2615fps
70gr IMR4198 = 2815fps
75gr IMR4198 = 3050fps
Ever since the red "S" on chest faded, I backed down the powder charge to 70gr. A 75gr charge is more than I care to try and manage.
I was accompanied at the range by the Manager of the gun dept. at Reed's Sporting Goods here in town. We put up a target at 100 yds. and I took the first shot after bore sighting. Made 1 scope adjustment and asked to Aaron to shoot.
He shot and I asked him where the bullet went. He said: "almost in the bullseye!" I said: "shoot another one and try to put it in the same hole. These rifles are pretty accurate!"
He shoots the second time and I asked where the bullet went. He said: "almost in the same hole!" We walked down-range and looked at the target. As we walked back to the benches he said: "I don't even have CF rifles that can do that!!" I thought where have I heard that before?
I was so happy.......... I can't explain!!
Aaron had to leave so I sat down and fired 2 more rounds to see how it would continue to group. I put 2 more in the same hole!!
THAT'S A 4 SHOT GROUP; BY 2 DIFFERENT SHOOTERS!!! Group measured .355"!!
I have sent the target pic to Jeff Hankins so he can post it for me.
Here's what I think is the bottomline. What Jeff offers is a "system". And that's exactly what he handed me.
The MOST important part? iIt's repeatable! I'm not the first recipient of a Hankins rifle that took it out of the box and shot great groups! I got the rifle, sat down at the shooting bench and bingo(!) a .355" group!! I was given everything as a complete system. It's NOT JUST Jeff's work. It's the combination of the HIS ignition system, the gunsmithing; the load and bullet choice.
Next time out at the range (this coming weekend) I'll post the 200 + results.
Kahuner over and out!!

I would say you are one happy camper, You can't ask for more than that. If it shoots like that with 70 gr. I see no reason to go back to 75 gr

His builds are Predictable, repeatable and anything but boring. This is what happens when you match up a gunsmith with quality components.

Did he put a different scope on once he got it? Says his first shot was bore sighted but you already shot groups using the setup pictured. Decide to go a different optic?

Yes; I did change scopes. Jeff was using my 2-7X33 V3 Illuminated because that's all I had available (all others were mounted on rifles) when I sent the rifle to Jeff. When I got it back, I took the 2-7 off and put on a 4.5-14 Leupold and that's what I using at the range.
Just 5 minutes ago I took that off and now I'm mounting a 6.5-20X50 Zeiss. Just bought it this afternoon.
That pic of the target and the story is "square biz". And just to show you that it wasn't luck, I'll post pics of 100 and 200yd targets when I'm at the range on Saturday w/ 2 other hunters.
