Today was one of those days while driving to work. Everything was normal as I headed out and come to a stop at an intersection with a red light. Normally I stop close to the line for stopping but for some reason I stopped a little shorter than normal. Then I hear a loud bang and I now see a car coming towards me at a 45degree angle to my front end. It was coming on a collision course and there was nothing I could do but watch. That was the helpless feeling. Surprising when the other vehicle impacted it was felt far less than what I was expecting. Also the amount of damage to my vehicle was far less than what I expected. The damage is what I consider superficial as I was able to drive my vehicle home without any noted difficulty. Just had to secure one of my lights that has now broken free. Now comes the frustration of making numerous phone connections to contact my insurance company to report the accident comes into play. Talk about going through a maze of messages and responding with pushing a corresponding number I finally got to talk to a representative. Now I get bombarded with a whack of questions just to open a claim. Talking to an actual insurance adjuster is yet to come. Well I at least got a claim number and a location to take my vehicle to get the damage assessed. So starts my day tomorrow morning. As far as injuries there were no serious external injuries noted but the older lady in the car that hit me was having some problems with her breathing and to be safe she was taken to hospital by ambulance. That was my day so how was your day? Ed

My day was hectic, frustrating and stressful at work. But much better than an easy day at the office but a collision on the way home. Glad you are all OK

I'm glad you are OK. Don't let the insurance BS get you down, it can be frustrating.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. Well my vehicle is now in the Auto Body Shop and I’m skirting around in a rental. The shop felt that the repair should not be an issue because it was not extensive for this older 4x4 vehicle. Next round will be with the adjuster when he contacts me by the beginning of next week to iron out the details for this claim.

They'll pay you off with no issues. Especially if you start complaining of back pains and PTSD lol

To be honest I don’t know what reaction to expect from the insurance adjuster or how insurance companies operate these days. My last accident was back in the 80’s when I was rear ended by a truck and that was settled fast.
All I’m looking for is to get my vehicle repaired, recover my wages for a lost day of work and no additional cost for rental required. All I’m seeking is to get my life back to normal as it was before the accident. So far I haven’t run into any real resistance per say and hope this trend continues without it dragging on.

Ed, you'll never get them to pay for lost wages.

Glad you are ok...In similar situations with older vehicles the insurance companies deem the vehicle a "total loss" ...be happy it didn't come to that because the total loss would be yours....

Rub your neck a little while you talk to them and you will get whatever you want! My wife was in an accident with no injuries and they gave her $4,000 to sign the medical waiver. Play it right and you can go on a guided hunt!

Got hit from behind in 2011 totaled my 08 Cobalt. I commute 125miles a day. So it had 90,000 miles on it Didn't have any injuries...shook up pretty bad...sore and stiff a couple days later. Lost my A$$ from their insurance company. Had brand new tires on it that cost me $ 500 a week before...they said so what. If I had it to do over I would have handled it differently ... But live and learn. Drop
