Somebody has prolly already thought about this or; is already doing this.
I want to convert a 50 cal Pro Hunter or CVA Accura V2 to 45 cal w/ a Bergara barrel. I'd shoot 110 gr. of BH 209 and use a 209 primer. I want to shoot Jacketed Hydro-Con 250 bullets and eliminate the sabot, so sizing the Jacketed Hydro-Cons (which are ,450) is the issue,
Does anybody know what the bore diameter is of a 45 cal Bergara barrel?

A 250gr may stabilize in a 1-28 barrel, assuming you are talking about the 45cal ML barrel and not a converted 45/70 1-20 barrel.

GMB54;
Yes, I'm referring to a 45 cal Bergara barrel w/ a 1:28 twist. A 250 gr bullet should work well.
I spoke w/ B Parker and he believes the Jacketed Hydro-Con bullet will definitely expand to engage the lands in the absence of a sabot.
What may be a huge "hitch in the giddy-up" would be the bore diameter of a Bergara .45 cal. barrel. I'm thinking the .450" Jacketed Hydra-Cons may need to be sized up.
Would you happen to know what the bore of a 45 cal Bergara measures?
Thanks for your input.

Not off hand but my old Accura ran on the large side, slightly over .452 IIRC. Ive heard of some running upto .454

Have you considered getting a 45/70 barrel and installing a breech plug this will give you1/20 twist and .451 land to land. Your bullet options will greatly expand and with blackhorn it will shoot!!!! Luke will be offering the perfect breech plug for this project

To answer your question, no I hadn't considered a 45/70 barrel. Just got off of the phone w/ CVA and they do not make a 45/70 barrel for the Accura only the Apex.
The scope of my little project was to:
1. Use the same principal as other smokeless, w/o sabot rifles in that the Jacketed Hydro-Con or BE Parker bullet will swell to engage the rifling.
2. Shoot 250gr Jacketed Hydro-Con bullets only w/o a sabot @ 2100fps (~70gr by weight) or so using BH 209 powder. JHC bullets are 50% of the cost of BE's (currently) and I like to shoot often.
2. Do this on the cheap. Just switch the barrel to a 45 cal. 1:28" twist. The 27" SS fluted barrel assembly from CVA is $180 + $20 shipping and comes w/ a breech plug and ramrod.
CVA said the inside diameter of their 45 cal barrel should be .451". Probably about right since Powerbelt bullets measure the same. I'll either have to size the bullets up or down a smidge.
Not a lot of risk in this because if it doesn't work I can always sell the 45 cal barrel assembly.
Wish me luck. The barrel should be here by next Thursday. Your input is appreciated.

Makes no sense to dissuade anyone interested in shooting the copper Parkers or Barnes.

Give Carlos a PM over on my forum. He and GregK do a good deal of sabotless shooting with the barnes and hornady bullets. I am sure either one could help you out.
