Shilens are dead nuts consistent on the .458 and .451 and competitively accurate. I have a couple .451 pacnor blanks that are 28"x 1.25" if you know someone that wants to wrestle them. If you send them back to pacnor they will turn them for $35. I'm not sure there is a wrong answer but I have heard of McGowen .451's that are inconsistent throughout the bore.

I've got a Pacnor 30" .451 on one of my Savage T/As. And a Pacnor 28" .451 on a Savage MLII. Both barrels are 1:18 twist, and have a stock Savage plug. Both are very accurate at 500. I can't tell you about the other barrels you listed.

I'm not sure there is a wrong answer but I have heard of McGowen .451's that are inconsistent throughout the bore. This is/was a true statement with my McGowen however I bought some jb bore paste cleaner and worked my barrel quite a bit. My barrel was "choked" tight at the muzzle loser about 3" down. I worked the tighter area more so than the rest of the rifle then finished cleaning the whole barrel after a little work on the muzzle end. I have no idea why my muzzle was "choked" except that I had copper build up near the muzzle. But it was that way from the beginning so I don't know for sure. Now my barrel seems to be very consistent from end to end. With all that said in my opinion they all shoot moa or better. It really depends on what your trying to accomplish with your new rifle. Shoot deer or shoot competitions. If your shooting deer I wouldn't worry too much about what barrel you get cause they all can be very accurate. You might get .5 moa or better with the Brux or Krieger barrels however I don't think the deer will notice a difference, IMO. It really depends on what your trying to do with your rifle, good luck.

My .451 McGowen had to go back for additional lapping as it had a tight spot. Once that was fixed it turned out to be a good barrel. That said I won't be buying another.
I've not used Lilja or Douglas .451 barrels but have used their barrels quite a bit for other stuff and would recommend them. I would have used Lilja for my .45s but if I remember correctly they only make .458 in a 1-14 twist. I may use a Lilja on my .40 when I build it this year.
If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times : I won't shoot Shilen barrels.

Thanks for all input. Im considers doing a .451 acp build in the future as a benchrest rifle. That said i really like my .458 brux but they don't offer.451 . But as of Saturday testing at the range i believe my brothers Douglas.458 will out shoot my brux. And best gun ive had and sold was a Douglas. I ckd Krieger and they are 7 months out. Im leaning towards Douglas but ive only had Douglas and brux. So im listening.

My MGM barrel is a Shilen, the SMI barrel I had was a Douglas. Both were smooth, but I honestly think my Shilen/MGM is better. It feels completely smooth and consistent the whole way down.

Any of the choices should be great but considering how accurate my Shilen was on a Ruger #1 frame with a factory trigger, can't see a bolt gun being anything but better, so that would be my choice.
My .451 McGowen is a shooter, but it is no where near as consistent from end to end as my Shilen was. Considered Douglas for the .375 build but ended up with Kreiger, hope it was worth the wait.

Have to agree, they will all likely shoot very well but after seeing how consistent and accurate Dave's shilen was for such a long time, I would not hesitate to shoot a shilen. After the Krieger 375 project, I can forsee a Shilen rear seal project from cMc, I think the Shilen prefit option Cole is offering along with the new 209 bolt, is gonna be one sweet ticket. JMO
