Not the greatest day for my first range trip after my very quick initial testing the day before but I had to go out and shoot this thing I borrowed an Omega scope off my BuckHunter until I figure out what scope I want on this rifle. Stiff wind at my back reeking havoc at my table, it was hard to keep my items from being gone with the wind. Remington 700ML SS McGowen 45 DMB#1 Savage plug with .030 carbide bushing Callahan recoil lug Warne bases and rings Nikon Omega scope Factory stock My first shot out of the McRem the previous day was not quite what I expected. I've never had a keyhole before, it seems this rifle does not like MMP sabots (used the MMP to foul the bore to save the Harvesters). I scratched my head for a few mins and decided to load the 200gr SST with a Harvester smooth blue sabot, much better, no keyholes. 30yd target to check the scope, 200gr SST, Har. smooth blue sabot, 60gr IMR4198, 3 shots 30 yds, a few clicks left on the scope, 250gr Barnes TEZ (knurled), .060 veggie wad, 60gr IMR4198, 3 shots 100 yds, 250gr TEZ, 60gr IMR4198, .060 veggie wad, 4 shots No sticky W209 primers, fairly clean, no blowback that I could see I'm quite happy so far. Still new to smokeless muzzy's but with lots of research on this board (big thanks to everyone!) I think I'm on my way. After some tweaking (pillars, bedding and possibly a new trigger and stock) I think this build is gonna be a great shooter

Yes it certainly is a nice set up ! And the shooting is just fie also . Spring winds are tough to deal with. On a nice cool , calm summer early morning I'm sure you will have three shots touching ! Did you use the original Remington stock ? Chris

Did you use the original Remington stock ? Chris Yes original stock. I've never done stock work before so I want to do some practice work before I purchase a new stock. I enjoy the hands-on learning and it has been a fun project so far, lots learned and plenty to go.

That is a nice hunting set up . You put some extra nice touches with the bushing , recoil lug , and good solid rings and bases and next an up graded scope with just a little more magnification you will be set ! A good barrel just seems to turn these guns into real deer slayers ! Continued good luck . Chris
