I went to an auction yesterday and they had a Savage ML II, pre accutrigger with a rear flat on the action. i think that would be about a 93 or 94 model year. Stainless Steel with a black stock. It went for $400. It had the box and all tools and papers. If it had been fired I couldn't tell it. Lately some folks are wondering what they are going for so there is one example. A well used black powder Knight Bighorn went for $300. DH

NO, I didn't buy it and Jeff, I'm off about ten years. (Senior moment) Should have been 2003 or 04. I bought my ML II in about 2005 after they came out with the accutrigger and rounded receiver. Being I had one I didn't push the bidding. I felt if I bought it I would have to convert it with new barrel, recoil lug, stock, third pillar and glass bedding. Than another expensive scope mount and scope. And then the rifle will be heavier than I want. I'm thinking if I want another smokeless it would be a converted 45-70. But my savage serves me well. DH

I raise a eyebrow when I see some of these high prices being reported on the ML II. I still see these in the $600 to $700 range they were selling for before. Mostly in the blue and black configuration.
Yes there are suckers out there and there is a suckers sellers market.
I gotta wonder if some of these reported high prices are not some cheerleaders of people wanting to sell their ML II to do a build???
Seen that type of behavior before on the online forums before. Not saying that is what is hopping here. Just saying,

It seems like one guy, Tommy Gun, is the one buyiny any cheap ones and trying to get 1500-2000 bucks for them on Gunbroker

He must've sold one at that price and now trying to repeat his profit. Most newcomers don't realize they could build their own with twice the quality for 1/2 what he's charging.
All new 10ML owners wind up here eventually, and will quickly figure out they've been had...

Some of the Savage MLs being sold by Tommy Gun do not have the original stocks . They look like Boyds replacements ... taking the Tupperware stock off a SS and putting a thumbhole Boyds on it and asking big money for it . Chris

Yea, I really like Boyd's stocks, but c'mon, they cost $100 on average. But this guy isn't the only one jacking up the price because of a new Boyd's stock.

Speaking of the same gunbroker user. I saw an auction where he purchased an SS MLII with original stock and quickly had it relisted with a new stock for $2,200. Pretty easy to identify when it was relisted with the same SS scope and rings on it. Too many people overbid on gunbroker or have unrealistic expectations.
