Does anyone use just straight 5744 for there 45 saboted loads. I am not wanting to have to buy different powder than i use for my 50.

I know theres a couple there. I almost bought some 5744 about a half hour ago but i think I've seen it cheaper so decided to wait. I'm definitely interested in hearing about them as well.

42gr of 5744 and a 200gr xtp in a harvester smooth blue sabot gave me wicked good accuracy and 2260 to 2290 fps in my 45cal with a 24in barrel.

This should work well with sabotless also. Just shy of 4759

40gr. 5744, Barnes 195 light knurl, Harvester crush-rib light blue = 2200fps.
Stacks them out of two Encore conversions, both 24".

If you decide to go ever go sabotless it works pretty well as an initial powder in a duplex load with 4198.

Both the 40 and the 42gr 5744 loads puts them in the same hole. 40 or 42gr of imr'4759 will do the same but with over 200fps speed increase.

Both my sons shoot it and they both handle it well. Thanks again muznut!

The main thing about 4759 is you can't buy it anymore unless you are lucky, been discontinued.

If you have 4759, it works great in the break actions. I use up to 43 grains in my Apex 45-70 conversion w/Barnes 195 for 2400+ and great accuracy!
