There are aftermarket bolts from PT&G or you can have a bolt fluted.

Kyle, they could make you some I'm sure but they use a coned bolt face on their std case head bolts so you would have to talk with Jeff to see if he wants to go that route. Thanks

Can you all offer those in a .308 family bolt face? That would look good on my Hankins gun, but it has the wrong face on it for my ignition system. I might be interested in 2 as I am having Jeff do another build for me. Kyle Pierces charge $500 for a bolt

I think I'll check out PTG, seems a little high for a bolt. Kyle

Drop, price will be put in the classifieds when they are ready, I gave a hint once before and they will be right on par with that. Once you sell your factory bolt it will be about the same cost as a hunter bolt nose or the savage cf conversion.
Kyle the pierce cf bolt is way overkill for a ml build, they are held to .0001" tolerance and are prices accordingly and competitively compared to other options. I would flute the one you have if anything.

Thanks Their standard bolt face is a recessed bolt nose just like the Remington bolt nose. Their website says its a $35.00 option if you want a cone bolt face. Cone bolt faces work great for single shot solid bottom action, especially when using OTM bullets.. These bullets will some times slam into the straight counter bore in a standard Remington style chamber.. More of a problem when shooting small diameter cartridges like 222 or 223 as it leaves much more wall in the chamber area that must be cleared by the bullet tip.. Either way it won't make a difference when building the gun.. I would prefer a cone bolt nose on a single shot rifle, but neither one will make for a more accurate rifle. Thanks. Jeff Hankins.

Good catch Jeff! They must like coned on their repeaters as well, I don't think I saw a standard style anywhere that kash kept rearranging their stuff. Touchy feely kind of fella!

My premature primer ignitions occurred in my Savage .50 when the carbon built up in the bottom of the primer pocket. I had at least two if not three of these. It never caused me a problem other then scaring the crap out of me when they went off unexpectedly. The gum was in the sled when it occurred and the bullet actually hit the target board. Richard

Don't recall, it had to be five years ago or more. All I know is when I was forcing the bolt handle down (yes, tight) it want BANG! A check of the plug showed the carbon had built up inside the pocket. Once I drilled it out, primer seated normally. While I am typing Cole................I never saw in this thread HOW the bolt handle was being attached to the bolt body? Is is a solder attachment as in the Remington bolt or will it be TIG'ed on? Richard

They are being tig welded on currently. They talked about bolting them or brazing but why not just tig and be done was my thought. We can have some made with factory rem handles but they are actually more expensive.
Also, I got a couple questions about the $500 price. That is not for our bolt, that's for a complete pierce cf bolt that was questioned. Our bolt is much much more affordable.

Question/answer.............It appears the lug/bolt nose is a separate part from the bolt body? If so, is this easily replaceable? I only mention this in the even the face gets pitted from gas cutting? I have experienced it with the Savages and so some extent on the Remington's with the Hunter bolt nose. I just sold my gun with over 3500 shots thru it and there was some slight pitting. I called Hunter and just got a new nose for $40 to solve the problem. Richard

I don't think that's gonna be a problem with Luke's new plug and heat treated 4340 one piece bolt
