This gun was a last minute decision and a special project for me. Cole had this "unfinished, barely begun" Remington 700 BDL SML project sitting in his gun cabinet, I asked him what his plans were for it when I was over his house a while back and he said something to the affect of, build it and sell it someday. Even tho it was in it's beginning/raw/rough stages at that point, it got my wheels turning. I've always wanted to have a gun built for my dad and especially a smokeless muzzleloader, seeing how Dad loves the look of a nice Rem 700 BDL, I couldn't resist. So I got in touch with Cole and asked, Can the old 700 BDL you have sitting there be turned into a beauty of a .45 and wear a brake? He said absolutely, so I told him what I wanted in a finished product, and in no time flat, he did not disappoint!
It's a 25" McGowen .45 (1-22"), Decelerator pad, .030 savage bushing plug/hunter bolt nose kit, Harrel's brake, tactical knob, DNZ mount, Weaver Classic Extreme 4-16x50 illuminated german, stainless bottom metal with storage compartment built in, factory trigger set to a crisp 3lb. Cole did all the fitting, bedding, floated the barrel, completely refinished the stock and fitted the pad, installed the brake and blasted all the metal to match. Just your basic build, ya know........
The gun just arrived today, so I haven't had a chance to take it out and get some real good pics, these pics I have so far do it NO JUSTICE, I plan to take it out and shoot it tomorrow and I'll get some better pics then hopefully.
I will say this much, there is no way this job could have been done better or turned out any better, Cole hit it out of the park and did a remarkable job on this build, it is absolutely beautiful and perfect, from end to end, not a flaw could be found! I'm sure I left some things out and Cole can chime in and correct me or add in what I've left out. All I can say is, thank you Cole and I can not wait to hand this over to my Dad, there is not a more deserving person in this world and I doubt I can hold back the tears when I hand it to him, and I know he will be astounded and at a loss for words. Cole turned this ragged out Remington, into a show piece in an unheard of timeframe for a complete build. I'll get a weight on it, it's pretty light and see if it will shoot half as good as it looks.
A+ on this build Cole, from start to finish, top to bottom and end to end, your craftsmanship and attention to detail really stand out on this gun! Sorry again, these pics do not do it justice, I will get some better ones soon. Thanks again!
