What sabots (if any) are available for use in a .458 bore? .40 would be my first choice for a bullet but would consider others.

All the 45 sabots I know of are for .458 bore. You will likely want a harvester light blue

Center fire bores are measured at the groove diameter, such as .458". Muzzleloader bores are measured off the lands, such as .451". The sabots are made for muzzleloader bores from approximately .449"-.453". I'm sure your center fire .458" falls in that window somewhere?

Cool never seen a sabot shot out of a .451! Been shooting them out of .451's and .452's since the 1980's. They usually measure ..458" or .459" at the grooves like a center fire .458. Muzzleloader bores have always been measured on the lands.

My bore is .450 land .458 groove diameter. I ordered Harvester light blue 45/40 sabots, Harvester light blue 45/40 crush rib sabots, MMP 45/40 sabots (tan, I think), Hornady SST 200 grain 40 cal bullets and Hornady XTP 200 grain .40 cal bullets. Should get me started at least until I can complete my sabotless tools like sizers and knurler.

Harvester light blue is all you'll need. My pac is a bit tighter than that on the lands and the HSB shoot great with the .40 xtp and .399 BX.
