Trying to figure out what velocity to expect with Parker 300 BE's. I am also going to give their 270 Match hunting round a shot. I am looking to get a barrel for my savage but state requires BP so what velocities could I expect to achieve with 28 or 30" barrel.
I have already ordered the bullets and am going to try them out in my CVA optima elite w/ BH209. It is a 28"/.45/1:28 twist. The parker cite say 1:28 to 1:20 twist. Anyone shooting either of these with the 1:28? I got 50 of the 300 BE's and just 10 of the 270 MH (the MH are expensive and I do not want 50 if I cannot get them to group). State of Utah does not allow magnification so my muzzleloader has a vortex red dot on it.
If I cannot get them to group with my Optima, I will order a savage barrel probably 1:22 or 1:20.

For the sake of testing, can you at least test for accuracy with a typical scope? Then re-sight in for the hunt with the red-dot? I think you could get a better idea what you and the gun is capable of doing it that way. Just asking?

Ever shot sabotless?
You are going to need either a wool wad or a veggie wad between bullet and powder.
Bullet fit must be correct. You will probably have to knurl the bullets up to load in your bore with the correct resistance.

I think with cva 1-28 twist you will be better off with the 250-275 grain ballistic extreme which will stabilize easier and over powder wad. Definitely thin jacket bullet like ballistic extreme. IMO. 120 gr volume blackhorn will get appx 2200 fps with250 gr bullet.
Savage build id go 1-20 for sure and then you can load blackhorn heavier and step into much better bullet options like match hunter.
I personally would not load cva above manufacture load specs .

It has a 2 MOA dot and can be switched to a night vision mode (dot is probably 1 MOA then). I originally had it on my 20ga when I lived in Ohio and it shot 1.5" at 100 yards with it and sabot-ed loads so not sure how much I will gain at 100 yd. So probably won't be noticeable on my CVA. If go with a savage barrel for one 110 it already has a VX-II with M1 turrets on it that I would leave until hunting to create a good real word drop chart out to 400 yds.

I have never knurled bullets before but have seen people do it with a bastard file and just have to learn how to get consistency. What are the chances I will have to size the bullets before knurling?

Every barrel will fit different so only why to answer that is first hand. But say brux barrel you will need to size down. Douglas probably not and there's others that need knurled up for sure.
