Just an FYI for those shooting in-lines and using BP or BP substitutes, including BH209. This would be a fun event to attend, rather you shoot in it or just watch. Smokeless propellant can not be shot.........

Few days away from may 2nd inline match and weather report is outstanding and early report is may have record amount of shooters. Id say some of the best Blackpowder and sub powder inlines guns and shooters will be participating in event. Exciting times for inline shooters. Big thanks to nmlra and bob and dan

Off-hand / freestyle shooting would be more exciting to me. Aided shooting doesn't excite me. But watching good shooters, not using any lines of artificial rifle support, brings out who the best shooters (with best MLs) really are.
I shoot 4" groups at 150 and proud of it, being almost 64 years-old and wearing mid-range bifocals. I shoot unsupported at the range, just like in the hunting woods. Only time I may put a sandbag under the barrel is sighting-in a new bullet or powder. But I use nothing else but my right shoulder.
The thread-starter here says he would quit the sport, if he shot 4" at 150. I am more proud of my unsupported shooting, than his 1' groups at 200+ yards using artificial means.
Thanks! I had to get that off my chest. Carry-on and enjoy the weekend in Friendship. Best of luck to the thread-starter here (Encore50), wishing him the best in this artificial competition.

Fyi triple seven, In spring nationals there is a off hand shoot for you great fun. Our inline match doesn't allow a rear rest only small front contact rest. And it will come down to the shooter to win match. Glad you feel better sharing your feeling!!

Im sure our military men and women appreciate those snipers that use artificial support and are trained professional with extreme range accuracy. There are excellent free hand marksman and yes excellent benchrest marksman. Im glad everyone has a different view makes for a exciting world

I'll be thinkg,of you guys, don't forget to post the results. I guess you sabot shooters wait the full 5 minutes between each shot to get the maximum barrel cooling. What is an accepted front rest, bipod, shooting sticks or? Ray

Myself I'm hoping to learn as much as I can at the match. Will finally get to meet Bestill and some of the other great shooters. Its going to be an adventure and learning experience. Myself, I'm packed and ready for the 10 hour drive.

Congratulations guys, Jeff were the 3 Knights in the hunter class 50 or 45 caliber? Anyone there using a lmrp system or all 209 primers? Thanks, Ray Knight showed off a "new" target rifle at the last big NRA show. Its a 45cal 1-18 twist bull barrel. Very similar to the winning Extreme DE658B TARGET model from 2006. Barry Brakebill and Gordy Edwards are with Knight and competed in the match. That is assuming Gordon Edwards is the same person. Im pretty sure Barry was there and competed. There are not many Barry Brakebills around. Would you care to guess which rifle they shot?

I can't specify which ignition was used most 209 guns and some ultimate rifles ignition

Most impressive was overall winner had never pulled trigger on rifle he used until match started. I gave him a drop chart and at 5 distances he doped scope to distance and hit 10 ring with first shot.

it's a long shot but I'm going to say the 45 target rifle with the 1 in 18 twist. did that rifle qualify for the Hunter class at under ten pounds? Ray

That is correct and under10# yes

That would be my guess also considering Knight used the 45cals for quite a few years during the Manufacturer competitions. The old Knight DE658B was around 8.5lbs without a scope. I imagine the Knight 500 is probably pretty close to that too.

Actually got more determined, I am gonna hold off on the 45 barrel for now, pretty happy with stock barrel and the primer conversion.
Your rifles are sure nice, I was next to your brother when we moved to steel,, he has a cool paint job on that thing! I don't have a good excuse for not being on the steel, I hit the sighter pretty quick, went down hill quick from there.

Accuracy with sabot load in a timed event is very difficult as barrel heats poi changes very hard to chase a group.
