Live n learn for sure.I put antiseize on liners threads & snugged it up in BP. After 45 shots i figured i would clean my NEF, as the group sizes i have been shooting were not all that great. I pull BP & put hex wrench into vent & it was so stuck, it stripped the hex key corners & also the Vents corners. So i did search here found where the Tork driver of proper size may do the trick. I hammered it in got vice grips clamped tight. Put ratchet & socket on & went at it. It broke free & i trash canned it. I will put a new Lehigh vent liner into BP in the morning.

+1 10 ga. I use the white tape on the vent liners, pink on the breech plugs. Since I started using tape plus a touch of anti seize on both the breech plug and the vent liner I have not stuck any.

I always thought the Lehigh got stuck easily because it had so many threads, so I went back to the original vent liner. Now I use the "permanent" bush plug -- meaning I don't care if the bushing gets stuck.

I have shot many, many thousands of shots thru my Sav/PN and Rem?PN and only use the silver anti-sieze on the vent liner threads with no sticking problems. First of all, don't crank them in as tight as you can. I just snug mine in. #2, do use a quality hex head wrench and keep it square to the vent. I lock my plug in my vise (with aluminum jaw inserts) and then use a T-handle wrench. I lean my 190 lbs. against the T-handle and begin to twist (on and off , on and off) until it breaks free. In the event that does not break it loose (I have removed several vents for members here) fire up you Berns-O-Matic torch and put some heat to it...........It will break loose. DON'T twist until you strip it! You say 45 shots? Were these shot all at one time at the range and then when you brought the gun home it would not come out or............were these shot fired over a period of time whereupon you finally tried to remove the vent? It does make a big difference......heat, cool, moisture etc.! Just my $0.02 Richard

I also snugged it too much. I will keep on learning, thx

Make sure that you not only anti-seize the threads but also the back of the screw head and the concave portion of the plug where the backside of the screw head mates. This IMO is the number one cause of stuck vents.

This IMO is the number one cause of stuck vents. Exactly right! And only slightly snug to tighten it ain't a tire lug. Breechplug is a different story.

What Tar12 said +2!
Once had one in which torque on the allen wrench was between 30-45* when it "popped" loose. Then read the suggestion to make sure there is anti-seize on the back side of the screw head.....no more problems, even with a load left in for around 8 months, and the vent on that load had around a dozen practice shots through it after assembly.
I also hand hold the BP while installing the vent. Pretty hard to get it too tight that way.
