Managing Recoil

I don't normally have a problem with recoil but I recently obtained a savage 210f 12 ga. slug gun and I plan on using lyman 525 gr. slugs, that combination is enough to make me flinch just thinking of it.
I decided to do a little preemptive planning and decided to modify the stock to help better manage the recoil I anticipate from this sucker especially with 3 in. loads.
The gun has a standard savage synthetic stock , the hollow front heavy version the same one that comes with our 10 ml 11's. I considered filling the butt portion with expanding foam and lead shot ( everyone knows what that's worth these days). So following the same train of thought with more weight to absorb recoil and also eliminating the hollow sounding stock I got the wheels turning and figured I filler up with silicone caulking. I filled the stock in stages to allow the rubber to dry. It's more than adequate to add weight and I figured it might aid in absorbing recoil with it's elastic qualities. I also bought one of the new limbsaver recoil pads it's their Airtech pad (better than the original and no gumminess), I bought model 10807 and it fit quite close I just had to shave off about 1/8 th of an inch to shorten the toe to heal length and matched it with the length of the pad. I did this with a sharp blade on my chop saw. I am very pleased with the outcome and the weight went from 1 3/4 lbs. for the unmodified stock to approx. 3 lbs. for the silicone rubber filled stock. Be advised this pad isn't a perfect fit to the stock even with the trimming the width at the bottom is slightly wider than the stock but it's good enough for my application.
Here are a few pics of the job.
