Just curious what bullet weight you intend to use?

H4198 55.0 - 62.0 RL7 56.0 -63.0 VV110 35.0 -40.0 SR4759 31.0 -40.0 these are some thats been posted here for me lately. Some of the loads maybe able to shoot more powder than what i have put down. I have a converted NEF 45-70 so i cannot go to high on pressure.

60-62 grains of h-4198 works well for me with both the 195 barnes and the 200 sst or shockwaves.

My only ,45 is a Savage PacNor rebarrel by Luke in a in a laminated Savage stock . Nothing extra just the new barrel . Starting with the 195 Barnes with 56.0gr. of H4198 the largest 3 shot group was at 55.0grs. and measured .980" at 100yds ... 2 touching with the first shot a bit low . From there up to 58.ogrs. , I only fired 2 shot groups(sorry Richard) however each shot was touching . At 59.0grs I got daring and fired 3 shots and chronographed them . That group measured .825" and was 2435fps at the muzzle . Not real fast but as accurate as I could reasonably expect . I then tried the Hornady 200gr. SST with the same powder charges .Since I had more SST's than 195 Barnes bullets , I shot 3 shot groups . As the charge of H4198 was increased the groups began to tighten and at 59.0grs. , I had 3 touching that measured .760" at 2455fps . The next 3 shot group had them all touching and measured .795" . The third test group with this charge of 59.0grs. of H4198 measured .765" and had all shots touching . For me , it could not have been easier . Even a blind hog finds an acorn once in a while .

I have had good luck with 10 grains of 4759 and 50 grains of 4198 with the Harvestor blue sabots with either bullet you listed. That duplex load has worked for others.

Those groups were shot from the end of August to Sept. 21st with an early October trip to North Carolina scheduled . I didn't have time to get fancy ... next year . Thanks for the load . I have already wrote it down . Chris
