Curious about who has found a coyote den. Do they den in a hole? Or just in a specific spot in the woods?

In Arkansas they'll hole up for throwing pups about anywhere, dens, hollow trees or under rock ledges etc.
I have never personally found one. A very wary critter for sure.

They den up in the Spring when the female bears her pups and they usually have alternate den sites---in case one is discovered they will move the pups. It is most often a hole in the ground on a sidehill or a fence line with a view of the immediate area.

Here in Ontario, [that's Canada] they have their dens anywhere that is convenient, under deadfalls , holes in sidehills in the bush, old abandoned barns , under root stumps that have been piled up from fence line clearing, and as was mentioned , they also move their den sites periodically. Once the pups are weaned they rarely hang around their dens for too long, they will sleep where ever they can find shelter . Edit: should have added , this is the general way coyotes act anywhere were they are known to be, [not just here in Ontario.]
